Fulmer or Jones: To coach this team

I'm kind of looking at this team like the 2000 or maybe '03. Don't really know what to expect from player or position.

Fulmer could scheme (or at least the coordinators could) to try to create match ups.

I just haven't seen enough out of Butch to know how he is going to do or what he is going to do.

The real point of your post (or at least the coordinators could)......

I've never been in a forum where so many inane threads get started. They are not thought provoking and are usually the same ole regurgitated "what if."🙄

I thought this was settled a long time ago. The game moved beyond the Clawfense Phil found innovative and preparation is way beyond working like heck. Jones without a doubt.

Okay fellow posters. Here is the debate/discussion. This season will mark a decade since Fulmer last coached. Jones, on the other hand walked into a terribly dismal situation (we all know this). With all things being equal, who do you think would have more success with this team this upcoming season.

There seems to still be alot of talk pertaining to Fulmer (obviously he left a large mark on the program). Even more talk about the job Butch has done turning the program around.

Personally, I don't know. I think they are both about even. If I had to offer an opinion, I would have to give Fulmer an edge, however slight. I think he may have been just a smudge better at playing to the teams strength.

Ok Fulmer was good And won 1 National Championship. But you guys have to admit. Fulmer should of won more with all the talent he had. Fulmer had a ton more talent than Butch Jones has had here at UT. Fulmer had what 150 wins. Well 60 of those games were against Vandy, Kentucky, and the home comming game, and the first game of the year.

if Butch comes out of the gate and blows it against GT, UF, and UGA, Fulmer will be on the sideline at Bryant-Denny and lead the Vols to victory in his first game back and break the streak.

Now that would be funny and one of the craziest things to ever happen in college sports. Hopefully this will not happen. It would set us back another ten years to be looking for another coach for 2018.

Last I checked, Lyle was the HC.

Even IF it goes to s***, I'd expect Scott, Shoop, or Hoke to be named interim if it came to it.

Only went 12-5 versus The Tide. 98 SEC wins in total which is top 5 all-time. There were many other coaches who could only have hoped to win seven straight against Bama. And when Tennessee was good, there was also Nebraska, FSU Ohio St. & Florida who were really going well. Not so easy to win national championships.
