i read an article in the tennessean today and fullmer still stands by his staff. he said his staff has won many games and are doing there job. i think the only way there will ever be any change is to replace phil. he get's paid way to much to coach this poorly.

Geez, how about we give the coaches the benefit of the doubt and see what they can do with the rest of the season. Firing a coordinator or head coach in midseason would not help anything.

I understand your point, but I think that the benefit of the doubt has been extended beyond what is required...

They are not improving, they are digressing.

wouldn't hurt anything either. i'm tired of giving fulmer another chance, why give him the rest of the year, especially sander the offense couldn't get any worse. it's not going to hurt recruiting we are not doing very well anyway. our best recruit may not even attend tennessee(mclendon) . i 'll say i have to disagree with you on that issue volunterhillbilly, after watching our offense for the last 4 years and listening to our coaches brag about a team we never see, any change in the offensive coaching staff or head coach would be welcomed by me.

You people speak the truth. Climers article was a take off of my post yesterday on former Vol Asst. coaches. There is a silver lining in this years 3-2 start though, at least the University will not have to purchase Eastern Division rings for the players as Fulmer voted to do last year. What a joke that was! :shakehead:

our team has gotten worse in fundimentals and improved in talent. sad to see so many penalties, broken tackles and a horrible, i mean, borrible kicking game. soft zone with a blitz package that cannot get pressure on anyone's offensive line. we made a sorry georgia team look good.

the coaching has to change somewhere.

lets see how they overcome against Ala and ND. IF they are still bad and have not done anything to make adjustments then there is a valid argument for changes at the end of the season on the staff. They know what needs to be fixed and theese are the same players from last year that won the east. If they can not coach them to rectify their mistakes then they do not deserve a pay raise or anything else.

The coaches have had ample time to prove their worth, and have NOT. Not Fulmer, Sanders, Stephens or others.

brq, lets see after the Alabama game. I would be more patient if they had played better against Ole Miss or UAB. At least you concede that they are not improvement.

how scared do you think notre dame and bama are about playing UT this year? i bet memphis, vandy, south carolina and kentucky are thinking they can actually win this year.

:bad:

if we lose to bammer and ND there is no guarantee we beat SC. Heck they played with more heart and came close at Georgia. I would not be surrised to be 6-5.

You know what happens if we beat Bama and ND? There goes our argument about poor coaching. RS has been on the chopping block before but we always seem to have a miraculous win and suddenly all is forgotten. I love to see the Vols win and I hate it for all of the players and fans when we don't, but the best thing to spark a change would be to lose a couple more games. I am still shocked we are in this position. Preseason ranked #3 and now we are possibly looking at a .500 season.

Sad Times.

GO VOLS. BEAT BAMA.

The truly great coaches are always reinventing themselves-Bear Bryant, General Neyland, even Popa Joe at Penn State has changed his spots this year and Penn State is back on top. Fulmer has become enslaved to a system that has hardened itself to change. Unfortunately he has thrown out anchors into the fabric of the community and and those anchors are so imbedded that any real change will tear the fabric as it is pulled loose. We can sit at the dock and hope we get visited from time to time by success and for some that is comforting enough. But that is not the nature of the Tennesseean. We look at the mountain and wonder what is on the other side. We are pioneers and trail blazers and that should be the nature of any University that seeks to stimulate and influence minds towards growth and success. Change hurts, but it's required for growth. If we stay tied up at the dock, we die a slow death. Soon success will not stop here because our boat won't take them anywhere.
