Tennessee's offense is plumb awful. Pillsbury Dough Boy Phillip Fulmer is afraid to hire a competent offensive coordinator because he is afraid that a good coordinator will take his job - much like he stabbed Johnny Majors in the back in 1992.

Ol' Fulmer is real sad. He's sad all the way up the the University burser's office where he walks up and gets his $250,000 monthly paycheck. Sniff, sniff. Fulmer's real sorry for fielding a lousy football team now isn't he?

I think it's too early to condemn Dave Clawson as a bust.

Having a QB like Crompton to work with, heck, the guy can't implement even half of his offensive system.

Clawson has an albatross around his neck named Jonathan Crompton.....

This reeks of a bammer troll.

Nope. I graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Business Administration.

Bammer joke:

Question: What does a girl from Alabama say immediately after having sex?

Answer: "Get off of me, Paw, you're squshing my cigarettes!"

It is honestly still too early to tell, but based on Fulmer's track record of hiring assistants, it's not outrageously absurd to go ahead and label Clawson horrible before he ever even called a play.

Cut brought in his entire staff and most of those were horrible. Thank goodness he took them with him.

Correct, but that's just a few out of a very large sample size of bad hires. The promotion of Randy Sanders and the rehiring of Cutcliffe would be at the top of my list.

Now in hindsight, I believe that Cut was the only thing that saved Fulmer's job. If he doesn't do that we has another 7 win or less season and he's out the door. Of course with his current hires, even though we SUCK right now we can't see what the fruits will be until we get the personnel in place to get the offense rolling.

Cutcllife was a band-aid. We needed major surgery. By delaying the inevitable Fulmer just let the wound get even worse. There was no point in hiring someone that you knew would be here only three years, tops. I'd like to have seen what Clawson or whoever could have done with Ainge, Meachem, Swain, etc.

If Ainge is in this system I think he thrives in it. Of course his football IQ was/is greater than Cromp's right now. I hope that the experience Cromp is getting right now is going to make him better, but I just don't see it.

the system is supposed to cater to the QB according to clawson a while back.

i heard a joke after the ucla game. late that night after losing to ucla daniel lincoln tried to commit suicide but couldnt kick the chair out from under him...
i couldnt help but wonder how cromp really feels, in relation to that... alot of guys would crumble on the field and maybe even in life, who knows? i just hope he can redeem himself somehow...

I agree! Clawson is a good coach and no matter who you are, you can't fix stupid!!!

Crompton is an athlete but not a good quarterback. He got by on his athletic skill in high school but he can't here in the SEC. He just isn't smart enough to recognize defenses and run an offense. Clawson is definitely hindered in his attempts to implement a fast, high powered offense. The QB has to have a higher level of football intelligence and JC doesn't have one.

Crompton doesn't hold the respect of his offense. IMO that's why the line does't block like hell to protect him.
