ESPN just reported that Fulmer is "throwing his name into the ring" to be head coach.

Any thoughts?

104.5 the zone just reported that he is interested in the job. Apparently ESPN is reporting it.

I was ready for him to leave UT, but only wish him the best. I dont think its as good as he could get. Maybe he could pull a reverse Johnny Majors and end up at Pitt?

I don't have a link to attach but just saw on ESPN's Bottom Line that Phil was interviewing with UConn today or something like that. Has anybody else seen that? He could dominate in the Little East!!!

Also if UConn wants to return to the UConn football team we're all used to then be my guest and do this thing.

So, phil wants to replace a guy that took an upgrade by going to Maryland?? My how the mighty have fallen!!

Also, do you think there is any chance that Gino will allow anybody from UT to walk onto the UCannt campus!!!

Just like Majors won't allow it to happen at Pitt.

Dear Phil,
Call it a career dude. We loved you, you lost the fire, now ride off into the sunset!!! Stay a Vol for the rest of your life. Enjoy your grandchildren!

In a word. Yes.

A day after the hire, the program would double it's credibility. Yes, I was for the Fulmer fire.

That being said, it would be a hard program to turn around. If I were Fulmer I'd choose retirement over MN. It would be a risky move for any coach.

He's already retired and just won't acknowledge it; not of his own choosing. No one wants him, no one, and anyone would be stupid to hire him. He's never faced reality, won't, and who would hire someone that won't face reality. Stick a fork in him, he's done.

A source confirmed that former Tennessee coach Phillip Fulmer is interested in the UConn job. Fulmer, 60, was 152-52 from 1992 to 2008 and led the Volunteers to the national title in 1998. Fullmer, now a TV analyst, was known as one of the best recruiters in the country while at UT but he was gone after a 5-7 season in 2008.

I'm sure he would dominate TCU and Patterson with his NE recruiting ties.
