Fulmer has not been

Doug Matthews knows Fulmer very well and has stated Fulmer has been completely out of the coaching search. These rumors are nonsense.

Phil was not part of this in any way. This past weekend, the University reached out to ask him to help calm the fans and he said he would. Currie was a bad hire and it turned out in the wash.

Let me y'all in on a secret. Currie was Haslams puppet and did the bidding of Haslam. We finally had a group of Boosters wanting to oust him Ergen/Anderson/Fulmer/Manning and company. Yes they had a hand in helping but had it not been for them Schiano would be your coach guys. Also Manning played Currie/Haslam signing off on Schiano because they knew that wouldn't end up well for Currie/Haslam.He took one for the team for the greater good of the program. Whoever Currie/Haslam hired would not succeed and Haslam would make sure he didn't he wants to program to rely in his money (they strangled past coaches. Now they finally succeeded in ousting Currie and yes probably Haslam as well. Don't believe these media reports that Haslam is paying to be put out there. It's not over completely yet. Just know they want Charles Davis for AD and he us what's best for the program.

I don't buy that Manning "knew that wouldn't end up well for them". He couldn't have possibly known that an unprecedented fanbase revolt would crush the Sciano deal. Additionally, supporting a coach that he knew the fanbase would hate puts him in a really terrible position.

It's more likely that Manning is angling for a GM position with the Browns by aligning himself with Haslam.

Ask Auburn fans how they feel about Pat Dye kicking around the AD and playing power-games behind the scenes.

Trust me, you don't want the old heroic-coach-who-feels-wronged amassing power or pulling strings. These guys have gigantic egos, what makes you think that Fulmer is any better than Haslam or any other "power player" that you all hate?

Fulmer as AD will be a HUGE mistake!

All serious coaches want to know who their boss/AD is going to be for several years and that there's stability at the AD position.

Fulmer is NOT that guy and he's NOT qualified to be our AD.

Blackburn should have been hired as our AD after Hart and most on here know that.

Right this minute, before the press release of Fulmer as our AD, we all need to protest and blow up social media to hire Blackburn as our AD right NOW!

Blackburn is a Tennessee guy and has worked in the AD before and he will revamp our AD, get things in good order and he'll hire us a great coaching staff that knows how to recruit against anyone because he'll know that his job is also on the line.

We all need to be screaming HIRE BLACKBURN NOW and get the fan protest going as fast as we can so we get a good coaching staff hired and they can get busy recruiting good players.

VFL...GBO!!!
the only thing that matters at this point is whether or not the HOH's influence has been squelched.

if fulmer is named interrim ad today, i think/hope that's the indicator that's what's happened.

if it''s sigmon, then hoh is doing fine, nothing changes, and you'll never see anyone of blackburn's ilk as an AD here.

today, you need to hope it's fulmer standing at that podium.

Currie knew that his time was up yesterday. It is being reported that he did not use a university plane yesterday. There was never a real offer to Leach, this was a play by Currie to try and salvage a spot at WSU. He knows he's out, he contacts a guy that he knows will excite a fanbase that he has angered and it will make UT look bad when he us fired and the "deal" falls through.

Look at who is breaking the news about Fulmer sabotaging the AD. Feldman who is very close to Leach and McMurphy, who was the guy with Gundy. That is Currie. Now, I'm not saying that is all of the story but that's what happened last night. There was no deal with Leach, that was Currie trying to get in with WSU who's president was president at Kansas St. while Currie was there, and create a story favorable to him.

BTW, Majors was a mediocre 60% winning coach at UT. He backed into 1985 because half way through the season Florida, who had already beat UT, was hit with probation. They actually won the SEC. Then Tennessee went back down hill. Starting 0-6 that year. The next year Phil was named Offensive Coordinator and Recruiting Coordinator. They won back to back (one was shared) SEC Titles. Then Majors ran his mouth about his pay and needing a raise. The money guy at the time had heard enough and made the move. Other schools where courting Phil. They gave it to him. The rest is history. Majors did it to himself.

Exactly. The university had a wage freeze on at the time and Majors thought he deserved a raise. The president, I believe it was Dr. Joe Johnson, told him there would be money later, but Johnny wanted it immediately. Then Majors started griping publicly and that, combined with his heart attack and the team's poor performance after he returned to the sidelines, led to Fulmer becoming HC. I've heard that Arkansas and South Carolina were among the schools interested in Fulmer at the time.
