Based on what I have read and provided that Fulmer does not accept another coaching job, it seems as though UT will use him in the capacity of GM for football operations.

Are we developing a structure along the lines of the NFL of which Fulmer might be an advisor to Kiffin? This would accomplish a lot for UT fans/board members that were disgruntled with the firing (if there are any) and the payout to him would give us the biggest bang for the buck.

Appears Fulmer is going to be around in some capacity so what are the thoughts?

Fulmer needs to go home and quietly fade away from the football program. If anyone would take the time to research things they would quickly realize Fulmer may have the second best Won/Loss record but it was not because he was a good coach. That is why he has had no offers for HC positions but Fulmerites fail to see the facts. Without Cutcliffe on his staff Fulmer was mediocre and would have been gone years ago. It was a blessing for Fulmer when Ole Miss fired Cutcliffe and Fulmer brought him back after the 05 disaster. Fulmer with Cutcliffe 82/19 (8 years) Fulmer without Cutcliffe 66/33 (8 years)

You're just trying to get us upset by posting something that is as stupid as it gets. You Foolmerites would have failed English 101 if you had ever taken it. 'Coach' and 'Fulmer' cannot be paired together and, in doing so, creates improper english.

I wish every Foolmerite would load up and leave with that low down, discipline free rogue 'coach' that brought every thug/gangster/felon wannabee to the University of Tennessee so the football program would be destroyed. We want nothing to do with his kind whatsoever. Take the sorry thing with you and depart forever. Don't forget to shut the gate at the stadium behind you to keep his convicts out.

coaches are always coaches. Regardless of his failures in the past ten years, he's still Coach Fulmer.

It's still Coach Majors, and for that matter, it would still be Coach Battle. Some of my old coaches are long since retired, but they will always be Coach. That has nothing to do with English 101.

Also, if you really believe Kiffin isn't going to have several athletes with legal troubles, you're living in hat's Bizarro World.

if anyone has failed anything, it's you failing Respect 101, using the term Foolmer.

All schools have some issues. You need a talk with someone within UT Security to get an idea of what has really went on.

i know full well what has gone on. I also know full well it goes on in every major D1 school in America. You're not going to escape it by hiring a new coach.

He was the best ally that Bama and Florida ever had. 'The Warden' did more to destroy UT than they ever could.

the bolded part at least wins dumbest statement for the month of December on VN. The awards show for dumbest statement of 2008 is sometime in January. You might want to make sure you have that night free so you can make your acceptance speech in case you win.

Take a little time to see how The Great Pumpkin fared against them. His win percentage is against the Vandy's of the world. Its great to be rid of 'The Plague' and if we can cut his brainwashed followers loose, too, then all will be better.

I agree. Fulmer was given lots of credit over the years, when Chavis and Cuttcliffe were really the center of these winning teams. Sad part is, when Fulmer had losing seasons, in some peoples eyes the blame seemed to be shifted somewhere other than Fulmer. Fulmer was on top of the world for years, and IMO, he was often given a little more credit than he actually deserved. If you look at the talent and coaching staff he had his first 8 years compared to the talent and coaching staff his last 8, it is pretty easy to see why he was so successful in the beginning. Don't get me wrong, Fulmer had lots of good qualities, and I like Fulmer, but I will never consider him a legend as a coach regardless of his overall record. He should call it a career and just remember the good times.

No but a decent coach would not allow drunks and druggies to stay on the team. Right?

Yeah, Meyer would never keep a kid on a team that fires AK-47s in the air. But I guess firing an assault rifle in the air is better than being a drunk or druggie. What world do you live in if you dont think Joe Pa, Meyer, Saban, Richt, Miles, or Carroll let thugs on their teams and give them more than one or even 2 chances to straighten their problems out

I think the University would like to have him in some capacity, not sure Lucky Lane will like having him looking over his shoulder

First, I wanted Fulmer and Chavis gone when probably when you were still in diapers and can celebrate his departure with the best of them.

Second, if he is not going anywhere and it appears to be he isn't then the University will place him in some capacity related to Football and the Athletic Department.

Third, Kiffin stated in the Tennessean that he planned on wearing out Fulmer for his knowledge and the how to do it the Tennessee way. Indicates that Fulmer is going nowhere and Kiffin will use him. Kiffin's words not mine.

Fourth, sounds like something the University and Athletic Department would do as an unprecendented move when firing a coach but retaining him in some capacity. Would keep the donors happy and less complaints.

Fifth, Fulmer wants to contribute and does not care about any other jobs and this could be a move to appease several or even the masses.

Sixth, The university is treating football like a buisness product that produces revenue so why not manage it like one. This move will bode well for MH if he can pull it off. It will appear that we are running an Pre NFL combine camp based on organizational structure and coaching staff. I am sure you would be opposed to that because it is to forward thinking and makes sense.

Finally, Get your head out of your backside because it is probably going to work out this way.

Just mark that reading off as a misprint. Could have been someone writing something for Saturday Night Live or some standup comic, maybe. :post-4-1090547912: First, Fulmer couldn't manage a one-way trip to an outhouse without falling in. Secondly, he hasn't been considered by anyone as a HC since his firing. There's none of the coaches he so cherished been hired by anyone as of yet, only the ones that were blamed for his downfall. Logic explains that best, if applied. And as for advice, the best advice he could give Coach Kiffin is to look at what he did for the last 10 years and do just the opposite. No, no GM, no advice, no nothing, just go away and stay away. Lets just let Mr. Fulmer go manage the cleaning off of the last food at the local buffet before closing time and we'll get back to enjoying Tennessee football. The Hound
