Fulmer and the Top 5 recruiting class

Might Hamilton keep Phil until after this strong recruiting is landed in Feb. 2009? As soon as the LOIs are signed by Oku, Boyd, Stokes, and the rest, sack Fulmer and bring in his replacement. I realize that this would be pretty deceptive but the talent would be there for a stong run in 2009.

Wow......Just wow.....I hope for UT that the recruits are not reading this garbage.

I believe it is the Campus and Knoxville that attracts the recruits.. The statement has been made by several recruits... I think Phil may be a draw for a lot of the parents that think he will take good care of the young men when they get there.. I don't think MH would stoop to a level this low... I think CPF will retire on his own at season's end.. Personally I think he has hand chosen his replacement.. I think 90% of the recruits will sign as they love Knoxville as a whole not just the coach....[/QUOTE]

I agree, proof Boyd watches us get beat down and still commits to the school. Also if Hamilton cans him right after landing a monster class, it would be the last quality class for a while.

True, not to mention that it would all be on MH shoulders then.. Just imagine firing CPF, hiring a coach that has a top 5 recruiting class to work with and the new coach fails to do anything over the next 3 or 4 years.. The would almost certainly land in his (MH) lap.. I never thought of it until now, but you would also have a better chance of landing a big name coach if he had several high profile recruits to work with.. Wow I'm glad I don't have to make the decision .. I guess that is why he makes the big bucks.. I wounder if a decision has already been made and the recruits have a little inside info.. Nah that would be strecthing a little to far... We need start a TV series with all of the Drama "As the Big Orange turns"...lol

This is the most asinine comment ever posted on this board. We all want our football team to be successful, but that would just be classless. Not only that, but we would lose all credibility as a football program and university as a whole. 1)Mislead recruits into signing thinking they will be playing for a coach that will knowingly not be here. 2)Try to go hire a coach after you have just disgraced and dishonored a coach that has been a part of the university for 30 something years. I could go on and on...what high school coach would send his kid to a program that knowingly lied to their recruits?? This would be a travesty! Can't believe someone would seriously mention this.

Hamilton will look for any excuse to keep Fulmer. Recruiting makes an interesting argument. As I said in another thread, I think the debacle at Clemson will weigh heavily on Hamilton. What I am referring to is when Clemson fired their coach, they lost one 5* and two four * recruits. Considering how far behind we are in talent when compared with Uga, Uf, and Lsu...I wouldnt be surprised if they weighed this upcoming class as a must have.

Yeah there is no way he can do that. If a change is going to be made you just hope that the new coach excites the commitments and we don't lose alot of them. Granted some WILL decommit but hopefully those are few and far between.
