After the game, Fulmer exited the podium thusly...

-source, Mark Wiedmer Sunday commentary..

“I’ve just got a lot on my mind right now,” Fulmer said just before his news conference ended.
Also...
UT athletic director Mike Hamilton made no public comments after the fifth UT defeat in eight games. So we don’t yet know if Fulmer’s 16-year coaching career is dead.
But Fulmer acted more depressed than defiant Saturday.
At one point he sighed, “I don’t know where our running game has gone. That’s as disappointing as can be.”
My take... The man is completely lost right now.

He does have a lot on his mind... Sit down Phil, sort it all out, then do the right thing.

He has gone from beind defiant to the sense of a defeated coach. I may be looking for any wrinkle for change but this does not sound like the normal Fulmer coach speak. I think he sees the writing on the wall.

Just a awaiting game now. How long they wait will determine how much of a salvage job the next guy will have to take on. AD's office plays this wrong and it could cost us a couple extra years.

Fulmer needs to get with his agent and attorney, get the buyout negotiated, and hit the road at the end of the season. His game is long gone.

"I've got a lot on my mind"

This should make everyone happy. He's already "buffering" his retirement announcement which, if this means what I think it means, will actually come before the season is over.....though my gut tells me it won't be until year end.

:hi:

Me saying it, and he talking like it, are slightly different things I think.

But thanks for the critique.

You should have seen him say it.

I respect CPF and all he's done. I don't feel too bad about it because either way he's going to make it out of here with millions of dollars to his name.

He deserves a lot more respect from people than he gets IMO. I will not be cracking fat jokes but it's time for him to step down.

Did you? If so please share.

I agree I have no pity on the man with the millions he will get, however he deserves some respect if nothing more than for the time and years he put into the program.

The fat jokes and food jokes are getting very, very old.

I wish the mods would remove those posts.

He just looked defeated, beat down and tired.

Where were all the journalists when he made that statement?

They should have jumped all over that!

I can honestly say that I hate Phillip Fulmer. He has ruined football for me the last five years. All I can say is thank God for Bruce Pearl, he is the only ray of hope this program still has.

Yep. If he makes the announcement now, he can have a victory lap. None of us will enjoy a losing season, but his announcement will take some the sting out of it.

I agree with the majority of people here. Personal attacks are juvenile at best and have no place in the discussion.

Fulmer has led us to some very high highs. The optimists in the group will appreciate him for those.

I believe the announcement is close at hand. it wouldn't surprise me to hear that a press conference is scheduled at any time.
