Fullback Void Needs Filling

holbert will be what chris brown was
I doubt it. He is coming off of a big surgery and it usually takes over a year for it to feel right again.

My money would be on Cooper at FB and Cottam/Stocker/Holbert at TE. Holbert would also be the second string FB. If Warren is available he becomes the #1 TE too.

Warren will play DE, which is a need we have more than another stockpiled TE.

No he won't. We have no AA TEs on our roster right now. When he gets here we will have one. Cottam and Stocker are decent but nothing special.

Martin, Walker, Williams all have potential to be damn good All-SEC caliber DEs which is more than I can say for Cottam and Stocker at TE. We also have Brown and Ayers next year who are going to be productive.

No he will not play DE. He won't. That's comical.

Jeff Cottam and Luke Stocker are the only real TE's on scholarship.

There are 4 scholarship guys at DE (5 counting Donald) and Williams is going to come in this year's recruiting class.

Cooper will probably play the role that Brown had last year.

Holbert's recovering from a severe knee injury (and he's more of a FB anyways). It's going to be hard for him to be full strength at the beginning of next season.

And anyways, Warren is not a lock to be here next season. He might have to redshirt.

So we need him to block more than we need a pass rush off the edge on defense?? Our TE's typically do not have a catching role in Cut's offense. Brown had 40 receptions for 278 yards on the season. We also recruited Warren as a DE before he went to FSU. He WILL play DE and may see limited time as a TE. To waste the talent he has on the defensive side of the ball would be stupid and just plain crazy. TE only produced 13% of our passing game this season and only accounted for 16% of the receptions by Ainge. So the question is, do you want his pass rushing abilities on the defensive side of the ball or his blocking skills on the offensive side?? I'll take him sacking the QB, which is something he is VERY good at.

I'm sorry but you are wrong. You do not make freshman All-Americans change to a position where we are much more talented.

Warren could be the most talented and athletic TE we have ever had. If he can play this year he will be at TE.

I like the H-back position, multiple sets with the same players. As long as you can find a player with the understanding to run it. Cut brought brought back the TE asks him to play FB occasionaly, and kept the 3 WR all with the same group of players.

I like the article, but I don't agree with the idea that the offensive line talent hasn't dropped at all.

ours hasn't really. Our offensive line was strong the last 2 years.

It wasn't last year. It was decent this year, but still couldn't run the ball in some games. It was crap in 2002 and 2003. The best we've had in a long while was 2004.

I didn't watch them much this year, not sure.

But I know for a fact he was in every single time blocking for Timmy on his 3 yard dives in 2006.

#42. I can guaran-damn-tee he was in a lot in 2006.
He's also the guy that Meyer said would start at TB in 2006 if Wynn and Moore didn't get their stuff together.

But 2007, I'm not too sure about.

Now troll away TVA

Yeah, a lot meaning what... 5 times a game... if that (mainly for blocking)? Heck, how many carries did he even have?

Yeah, Meyer used the fullback a lot.

UF uses a FB a lot.

Latsko is his name

UF used a fullback all the time this year, his name is Tebow.

2008- UT will go back to a more conventional fullback because we will have them, there was no fullbacks in 2007 that were ready to play. Cooper and Holbert will be ready next year plus Will's little brother.

That's one of the reasons he didn't come here.
No he will not. He'll be a TE.

You will not see that while he is here.

We had a pretty good O-line this year very few sacks given up.

As it's been discussed, that was more-so laid on the type of passing game we employed. Rarely did Ainge hold onto the ball past 3 seconds. Not to take anything away from the O-Line though.

It sounds like you really hope this is going to be true. But the bottom line is that its not. We have lots of talent at DE. We have only 2 capable TE's. The TE is much, much more important to our offensive philosophy than you realize. Warren would give us a dynamic TE which will make our offense much more difficult to cover.

Next year will probably be a formation with a TE and Hback. I expected to see it more this year, but it didn't materialize after Brad Cottam got injured.

Next season J. Cottam/Warren at TE and Holbert at H/back, 2 WR. Warren might see some snaps at Hback if Holbert doesn't play well.
