To be honest I know we have a young team and everything and new guys need to mesh..but when I look at the non conference schedule I think it's pretty favorable. Outside of VCU to start off the season and NC State on the road I feel like we should win the rest of those games. Butler and K-State won't be easy but at home I think we get both wins. Also let's just say we lose to both VCU and NC State and one of Butler or K-State and win the rest which I think is definitely possible considering the teams we play. We could be at the very worst 7-3 going into SEC play. Not. Bad. At. All.

I think we have a shot at VCU. Seems like one of their better players is suspended for the game.

You're forgetting the Orlando Classic which could easily be 2 more OOC losses

I'm prepared for .500 in the OOC and hoping for better.
Need to avoid those early AP and UTEP type losses to stifle the expected axe Donnie posts before he gets started though.

.500 in OOC sounds about right. I think Tennessee has slightly a better chance in pulling off an OOC upset (against ksu or nc st) than being upset by an OOC opponent like etsu, tn tech or mercer. I don't see butler winning in knoxville this season either.

We are Tennessee. Beating k state or nc state would not be an upset. As a fan I expect to win those games.

The vols will have to be on their A game and I'm not sure that's enough. K state could very well lay down the hammer in knoxville, and the wolfpack, well, are the wolfpack. They won in knoxville last year, so I certainly see them winning in Raleigh this season.

Normally I agree, but I would consider this years team to be an underdog in both of those games. Remember NC State easily won the last time they played.

Reality check, dude. We are not a great team this year. We will be underdogs in both of those.

Reality check? You are ASSUMING we won't be a good team. This team hasn't played one game yet and you are saying we aren't a great team...okay lol that makes sense

Or maybe we have no point guard, questionable post depth, 8 new players, and a brand new coach and system. So pardon me for not being overly optimistic. We will be underdogs against NC state and K state and it would be considered an upset should we win. I think Donnie will get it done but this is a rebuilding year.

How do you figure lol

Kansas State and Nc State are both much better basketball programs than Tennessee historically and it's "not even close".

Maybe so but they are not much better than us at the time. Neither of those teams is better than us that's why I don't consider it an upset

Really, neither of those teams is better than us?

Kansas State has been to 5 straight NCAA tournaments, Tennessee has been to 1 in the last 3 seasons. Kansas State returns 3 starters and 9/13 scholarship players. Tennessee returns 1 starter and 4/13 scholarship players.

NC State has been to 3 straight NCAA tournaments, once again Tennessee has been to 1 in the last 3 seasons. NC State returns 3/5 starters and 11/13 scholarship players from last years NCAAT team. Once again Tennessee returns 1 starter and 4/13 scholarship players from their NCAAT team.

Also, both Kansas State and Nc State have received some top 25 predictions by in early season polls, Tennessee is picked to finish near dead last in the putrid SEC. Both of those teams are expected to be better than Tennessee, and it's not even close.
