Frustrating finale, but bright future

I agree they were really tight last night, making bad reads, guessing too much at the plate, overswinging, and taking bad cuts, but they were trying. The bats have been inconsistent all year, which is why they had such a rough start to begin with.

I say kudos to their effort. Last night, they got outplayed in every aspect of the game. Beam was the only bright spot for UT, and he still made some bad pitches and put himself in some unwinnable positions. CTV made some questionable moves, esp with his bullpen calls. BUT he and is an integral piece of UT's recent success, so i give him a pass. He definitely wants it and knows he made some bum calls. He will only get better as he gets older and more experienced.

CJE holding Cal at third was questionable to me. LSU pitchers played their best game to date. I know everyone says he woulda been out by a mile. I say make him throw you out in a 1-0 game when that's the closest you've been to stealing momentum and scoring all night. Can you imaging the spark if he scores there? LSU already had the momentum and their pitcher just got better after that. Nothing to lose there iyam.

The future is looking damn good, esp once they figure out who is staying, who is leaving, and who shows up to plug a hole. Just need to work on hitting and playing small ball. HR's and hitting for power are fun to watch, but they don't win big games in the biggest venue they will play in. I'm sure that will be #1 priority for the offseason.

I realize that the end goal is always a championship and anything short of that--especially when you make the CWS--is disappointing. But it just can't be ignored that after a decade+ of irrelevance, Tony V has got the team to Omaha twice in five seasons, with an additional Super Regional appearance. Those are excellent results which the country notices.

Not usually one to make these kind of comparisons, but it took Tim Corbin nine seasons to even get to Omaha.

Future is certainly bright.

Anyone have a good analysis of next years roster and likely starting pitchers and top relievers?

And 12 to get to his 2nd one. Granted he won it his 2nd time around but CTV has made it to Omaha 2x in half the time it took the guy everyone in college baseball drools over.
