I know we need guys on the back-end of things and that is were time is being spent. Are we in on any LB's, DT's, or DE's cause we finally have depth there and I seriously don't want to loose it.

We had a great haul of Dlinemen last year, and Bonner and McNeil may just develop into studs in the secondary.

I think our defense will be tremendously improved.

Speed is lacking in a lot of areas on the defense...of course competent coaching would have helped the defense too...thanks Sal Sunseri...

Seriously, lost in all the shuffle of our horrendous defense was the fact that I could barely remember us getting to any quarterbacks last season. I think it's been a couple of seasons of no pass rush pressure and barely stopping the run. I remember during the Florida game they tried straight up the gut and McCullors stuffed the run game a few times--but then going on perimeter plays around the line and out in space was where we got gouged. In the Missouri game the kept hitting us with fly sweep after fly sweep and it didn't take long til they tore us up on the ground. Man our defense was bad...

The recruiting and development of that talent has been mediocre at best. We need a passrusher, and some impact LB's, and a dependable corner who can lockdown guys. Deion Bonner has the skills to do that, but just needs good coaching and a chance. A pass rusher is the number one goal. Jordan Williams is developing well, but there isn't much behind him.

A lot of our speed problem was a scheme isssue. In a 3-4, you play 3 defensive tackles 2 de's and only 2 lbs's.

Although that's clearly not the reason our secondary was slow as crap.
