1. When the three ring circus of our passing game doesn't start well, shift to an opportunistic ground game, mixing in some passes to our tight ends. That works. And wow, what a day for Eric Gray! 246 yards and 3 TDs on 25 carries. Breakout.

2. I think maybe we saw Bituli's successor and To'o To'o's buddy for 2020 and beyond: Freshman Roman Harrison (#30) with the early 2nd qtr sack! Also, how about Kivon Bennett coming on strong on the DL?

3. Chris Weinke with some really good QB whispering on the sideline during the 1st and early 2nd quarters. Brought JG's head back where it needs to be. We don't want to lose Chris this off-season, he's a good QB coach.

4. Yet another team-leading running back made largely ineffective by our defense. Kentucky's Bowden & Rodriguez, Mizzou's Rountree, now Ke'shaun Vaughn of Vandy. Our front seven are mostly young, but they are stout. Bright future ahead.

5. Really nice to see Marquez and Jauan get into the game before it ended. They're both a pleasure to watch play (but ouch on the stomp, Jauan!). JG's no slouch when he's delivering it to them, either.

6. Winning season! 7-5, 5-3 in SEC play. That's not supposed to be extraordinary for our program, but given the last few years--and how this season started--we'll happily take it. Here's hoping we close strong in a good bowl, and set ourselves up for something special in 2020.

And with the win Pruitt is now 12-12 as a coach.

I think it only goes up from here, brother. 13-12 through the off-season, then maybe 23-15 (or better if magical things happen) after another year. That'd be nice, get CJP up to 60% win rate, and rising?

Oh, and one nice post-script thought:

ESPN's FPI gave us just a 3% chance (three percent) of winning out after the Bama game. But that's exactly what our lads did. They just kept walking back into the arena, time after time, refusing to give in. Beat the odds in a huge way.

Of course, ESPN's FPI, as a computer program, couldn't see what many of us could after the Miss State and Bama games: that these young men had an obsession to finish well. That instead of being done after a terrible start, they were driven to turn things around. That they'd become a TEAM. Computers don't notice things like that.

But we did.
