From Hubbs:

"Guys,

Sorry for the delay, but it has gotten really quiet this evening. Hamilton as we posted in the story I posted around 7pm is in Dallas and the focus is on Muschamp.

Muschamp, who normally returns calls promptly to his friends and colleagues has not returned many calls tonight.

It means to me that things are pretty heated up right now with discussions with Muschamp as he reviews everything about the Vols from depth charts to future schedules to everything you can imagine.

Muschamp is known for being a very thorough guy who doesn't get surprised by things.

Obviously he has not replied to our messages or text's today."

Thanks for posting this. How long ago was this?
Seems to indicate that all of the "he said no" and the "he said yes" rumors are just that. Imagine that.

I'm starting to think that nobody knows because that was posted around the same time Texas mods said that he was staying. I don't think anyone other than Hamilton and Muschamp really know

I just do not see the appeal of Muschamp at all...To me he is like Lane Kiffin version 2...Not really comfortable with him being coach at UT...He's never been a HC and his defense got ran over by a middle of the road Alabama offense...Just not sold on him but there aren't a lot of options right now.

I think Texas is in denial that the DISCUSSIONS are even happening. lol In one of the Texas forums they pretty much were sayin that their crap don't stink and Muschamp would never take a "second rate" job like the one here in Know-Vegas. I think Muschamp will do a good a job as anybody else, plus can you think about the buzz on ESPN and what they will say about us "stealing" him from one UT to another?

He is a big name and that is exactly what we need at this point. Troy Calhoun just isn't gonna cut it, I'm sorry...

What does everybody think about this??

He seems like Lane Kiffin except without the chance to succeed. I'll root for him if he comes here, but I think Saban and Meyer would toy with him.

Muschamp will be a great HC, opposing fans are PRAYING we do not get him! He is young and enthusiastic, he would keep recruits and possible attract some before NSD, he is a Saban prodigy, People are worried about UGA or Texas, not me! With what just happened Hamilton will make sure its a long term fit, with all the scrutiny about these coaches just jumping ship, I think we are going to see a change of that in the future, fans, STUDENT ATHLETES, and media are getting sick of it. Muschamp from what I hear is as classy as they come! I say IF he accepts the job, he will be here for a WHILE! I am still staying a little guarded, but am very excited at the possibility of him being the HC and assembling a VERY GOOD staff.
