Not that it matters to any of you, but I admire the way the UT fan base stood up and affected this outcome. There are things that matter a lot more than sports. I hope you get an honorable man...

It does matter to a lot of us and for what it's worth from this Vol fan, thanks. Any program out there I would hope would stand up for what's right.

The thing is Tennessee fans will put up with a mediocre, crappy coaching hire. We've been trained for years to put up with it. The thing we can't deal with is a crappy hire with baggage. THis is what the media aholes cant understand.

Yeah...

And the media is pounding our fan base for something they would've trashed us for being involved with. It's a no win situation in that regard, but I feel like we definitely dodged the stain of that scandal. It does, however, feel awful to have the ineptitude of the administration constantly thrown in your face. I mean, we ALL knew the admin was going to screw this up...we just had no idea how bad until they tried to trot Schiano out as the next in line to receive a big orange buyout.

There was no way we were not gonna get hammered in this situation.

Hire Schiano -- media blasts us for hiring the guy who didn't blow the whistle on Sandusky years before he was finally outed.

Hire/BackOut on Schiano -- media blasts us for influencing the AD in his duties and for lynching a guy based on hearsay.

These media goons do nothing but stir $#% and generate clickbait. End of story.

I think a lot of it has to do with integrity, but a lot of it also has to do with what a terrible hire it would have been regardless of Schiano's skeletons.

And a lot of it had to do with the fantasy belief that Jon Gruden was coming. In the end, there were a lot of people that weren't going to be happy if it wasn't him, and it would have had nothing to do with the credentials and qualifications of the person hired.

Our administration is a clown shoe cluster****. Why we cannot hire competent and visionary leadership, from the top down, is beyond me. We have everything you need to be successful in every sport except capable management in key positions.

Thanks for the kind words. As others have said, we'd hope other fans would protest as we did.

I'm fine with us taking the heat for this. IMO, it's better than having to live with him at the helm shaping the minds of our young student-athletes.

And, the WH was already blasting us yesterday.

Now, think about what would have happened, IF the hire had transpired ...

both the Rep WH and Lib-Media would have been UNITED against Tennessee, THE VOLUNTEER STATE.

Come on John Currie -- if your choice had been vetted through a search firm, at least you could put it on them.

Fire Curries arse and insert Fulmer to oversee Our Football program until a good coach is hired !! Man I so tired of theses incompetent *******s powers to be killing our football program!! Time to get junk yard downright mean and get this straightened up once and for all

(Duly note I don't condone the Penn St. stuff). I actually didn't want him because he was just an outright bad hire. My feelings on him as a potential HC here had nothing to do with Sandusky stuff in this case. As it pertained to him as HC here, I only cared that I didn't think he would do a good job. Texted multiple Vol fan friends, & none mentioned the Penn St. issue (at least until others brought it up). So, I'm happy we protested. Further, I think the use of Sandusky/Penn St. was just a nice ammunition bullet, something charged up in this PC world, to whip up bad PR, every organization's worst nightmare. UT fans are smart, & cared less about something from 30yrs ago than they did that this would have set us back even more from a coaching standpoint. But, they knew they could use that bit of poison to prevent an otherwise bad mistake. Very savvy. I applaud yall.

Sidenote: I spoke with a guy from the northeast while getting coffee today. From a flaw standpoint, outside of his disaster of a time at TB, he said a major issue with him at Rutgers was a major laxity towards academics. So, one more reason to be glad he's not here.

I work for a company headquartered right outside of Tampa Bay. I asked a lot of my coworkers their thoughts. He was, by all accounts, an absolute nightmare. He would go off on people for little to nothing, throw tantrums, yell at coaches and threaten to fire them for being on the wrong place on the field during practice, seemingly plot against anyone he viewed as an "enemy" including his own starting QB. He sounds like a paranoid lunatic with short man syndrome.

This alone is enough of a character flaw to protest him being here. He would NOT fit in our culture. Throw in the awful record, history of being aggressive in play calling to the point of trying to hurt opposing players, and the possible knowledge he had at Penn State and that's more than enough reason for this to be a career ending hire for our AD. That being said, Currie will probably keep his job for another 10 years.

I think a lot of that falls back on the Haslam's. As long as they have control of the university this all we are gonna get!
