Well, howdy. I don't have alot of time for message baords, so longtime Vol, 1st time poster. I had my share of crow growing up in Gville, from Tee martin getting blown-up by an offside Alex Brown 400 times in 1 game. From Peyton's losing streak, Joey Kent getting slammed by Wright. The Jabar drop in 2000 I was almost beatup at a Gator Bar....but this last flare up has me worried...and not....'Fulmer too conservative, Spurrier owning us, UF and Meyer peeling off titles and a winning streak against us worried. Living in Gville has me worried that our team, fans and Football program as a whole may be nuked into oblivion in The Swamp. 1st off, we have alot of talent, 2ndly, our additions to recruting and defensive staff will help us win titles of our own soon....but the jury is out on Lane and IMO he has been an embarssment so far.

A guy who didn't know the rules ealry on for himself, a guy who now has made a guy angry in Tebow and Meyer with a track record of annihalating those who dare throw smack around especially rivals, just ask UGA and FSU.

The Vol-heart in me is glad we added some fire to this, Spurrier came to Gainesville in 90 and promised to deliver yearly whippings to UGA and that rivalry needed that and he backed it up. UGA did it to UF to add fire to that serieis and it backfired by dancing with the stars last year and they got a 59-10 beatdown... I think this was ill-timed, ill-informed and ill adised. ADD fire to UT-gators by thrashing them, winning East championships,SEC and BCS titles etc....UF is where we want our program to get back to. They have great academics, win titles, and while they may recruit aggressivley...they don't flasout cheat like Bama, FSU, Miami, Okl or OHIO st.

Look at our BBall coach, he saw where UT could go, embrace the best coach and improve on what he does and prey on his weaknesses... Billy D, challenged him on the court and in recruting and we own them now.

That's all. Just get your facts straight when throwing down smack and have a plan or a track record to back it up, he has neither so far....I'm not even sure he is the right guy.

Who's the right guy? The right guy, frankly, would have been someone like Urban Meyer. Someone who won a lot of games at Bowling Green, then put up a perfect season at Utah, and then after all that scratching and clawing got the job at Florida ... where he won two national championships in his first four years.

Rural Kiffin has no status, no standing, no résumé. He was born the son of longtime NFL assistant Monte Kiffin and hasnt done anything to shopw me he can do this.

Look, the guy could flop at Tennessee, a passionate recruiter like Zook who babysits the program until the next legend comes along....thats how UF did it....nobody wanted to follow Spurrier so they got a recruiter to buiold for the next Champ coach..

I'm not ripping him for his passion. Want to win at the highest level in college football? Then you better have some killer instinct. Meyer has it. The entire Georgia sideline celebrated a touchdown against Florida in 2007 by running onto the field, and Meyer retaliated one year later by winning 59-10 and calling two late timeouts to rub it in.

Like most Vol fans from the state of Florida you lack the passion that I, as a UT student, have for our team.

Who cares if he's talking smack, what does he have to lose? IMO he has a free pass this year.

Anyone who says we would have been better off hiring the current Fla coach is nothing but a troll to me.

GO VOLS!

This proves me right. You know longer think the Vols are worth fighting for. You're ready to mail it in. How about you let our F'ing team play a game before you start to tear up.

I swear the former staff has rubbed off on some of these "fans" and has them acting like a bunch of crying pansies. Man up and quit worrying about the big bad gators and let's just see what happens.

The coaching search is over, we should be focusing on our players. THE END

I agree with ranrad. Of course, you are always entitled to your opinion, but this is a way of life for us. There is NOTHING else. It's easy to say that hiring Urban Meyer would be the perfect coach, he has two NC's. But many, many people doubted CUM when he first arrived at UF. (His system wont work in the SEC, he can't recruit with the other SEC coaches, etc...) This is who we have, and frankly, I'm damn proud to have him. Gruden, Cowher, and many others didnt want anything to do with us. They would have been offered just as much money as CLK, probably more. CLK WANTS to be a Vol, and we want to welcome him to the family. He's calling UF out because thats our rival, and he knows who the fans want to beat (notice he attacks UF, UGA, Bama, USC). I'm happy to hear that you backed us in the past, but don't EVER quit on the Vols. Once you do that, you might as well buy property in TuscaLOSER. Go Vols...

What CLK did was very minor in comparison when it comes to a pi$$ off when you look at what Fulmer did to Bama. We will survive the sun will rise in the east and set in the west. The blowhards from gator country needs to get ready for the beatdown they will soon be receiving. It is time for the UF to show us some R-E-S-P-E-C-T which is something that has been missing for a long time.

56-10, 51-21, 63-5, 56-6, 70-19 are all scores from UF games last year.

Unless CUM had a grudge against Hawaii, LSU, Kentucky, South Carolina, and the Citadel I think it's fair to say he runs the score up on everybody. It's just the way of life in the BCS now. He would have tried to run the score up on UT whether CLK made these comments or not. I think/hope CLK will tone it down some in the future but I don't think he needs to be worried about what Meyer thinks of him.

Go Vols!!!

First off let me say bless you for having to tolerate Gainesville and gatornation. I can see where after all these years you might be beaten down into a servent- like demeanor. It is obvious you are too far removed from the heart of Volunteer fanhood to really form your own coherent arguments; several talking points in your rant read directly from published admonishments of Kiffin for his statements, e.g. 'Rural" Kiffin, hiring someone 'like Urban Meyer,' 'no resume,' etc.

Your revenge argument is likewise unoriginal. What you miss with your point about retaliation for the end zone dance was that in the short-term- the game during which it occurred- this brazen disregard for the rules provided the spark that Georgia needed to win the game. The retaliation came a year later.

Further, all of this talk by the media pundits, by trolls on our message boards, and by watered-down whipping-boy 'fans' like yourself portends that we should beware of making the immortal Timmy and Urban angry, lest we provoke their mighty wrath.

I call BS. It is a moot point. Any true Volunteer fan would realize that we have been Florida's b!tc# for decades and it can't get any worse. Getting demolished is one thing. Playing with absolutely no fire or passion and believing you can't win is another.

If this is what it takes to get our guys mentally prepared to "carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes" then so be it.

Lutherogle you need to sit back, have some kool-aid, and turn off the local and national media. Let us teach you the way...

Kiffin has some proving to do. For Heaven's sake let's let him do it on the field.

I'm doubting that you're a UT fan. If you are, then I can't believe you would be so scared of the mighty UF and Urban Meyer. You should be happy that your coach is finally throwing punches and fighting back. From the tone of your post it sounds like you're more content to play the role of gracious loser so you don't get "beat up". Has living in Gainesville really made you such a pansy? It's only strengthened my dedication to UT.

Most of us down here are very quick to snap back at any Gator fans. This guy is just a pussy cat.

If our coaches wore muzzles for the next six months it wouldn't change a thing. There used to be a coaching fraternity that when it was obvious that the opponent was beaten, they would start to run the ball between the tackles and get the game over. That group e.g. Majors, Dooley, Jordan is long gone. Now it is all about BCS style points. Many of the voters can't see all the games but they do read the box scores. Meyer will hang as many on us as he can regardless of what is said or not said. If FLA is to beat out USC or UTAH for that coveted BCS spot he has to score big. Spurrier started the in your face thing when he said it is the defenses job to stop him not his job. Only now he has trouble finding QB's who want to play for him. Meyer doesn't care because he doesn't believe UGA or UT will ever mount a serious threat and retaliate.

It's a means to an end, Luth. If you're scared say you're scared. You must wear pink under whatever orange you wear in the privacy of your home. I doubt you have the nads to wear orange in public after defeat. The Volnation doesn't need cowardly fans such as yourself.

You have been in FL too long, They have brain washed you. I'm pretty sure our new coach/coaches aren't afraid of the gators, and that is nice for a change.

Easy with mass comdenations Junior-Some of us keep the faith down here (and our powder dry). My tickets for the next game in G-ville are secure. It's a disgusting stadium, but the Swamp Mollies are not bad looking......

Luther just needs some time back in the Homeland.

We may not beat the gators this year. The one thing I would like to make certain is that there is no way in hell they hang 50. If anything our defense is better. With a special teams touchdown and our pathetic offense last year, they didn't do it. Like I said, we MAY not win, but 50? I think not.
