"I am concerned about the offensive line. At one point, in the second quarter I believe, UC went for it on fourth down and inches and did not make it. If you cannot dominate the line of scrimmage against Austin Peay, whom we all agree is not a good team, even for FCS, I have grave concerns against the likes of Tennessee, NC State and the BEast teams. Pead, Poteat, Wynn, et al., may all be fantastic backs but will have no room to run against real competition."

First game problems being felt everywhere, gentlemen.

Poole is the man. One game and everyone jumps off the bandwagon. He gives his all and loves his university. More than most of you can say. I was the only damn person screaming in section C

ALOT of teams struggled yesterday in their opener - after sleeping on it, I don't see any need to panic.

Also, there were two things that made me smile outside of the UT game yesterday
1 - USC struggled at home vs Minn
2 - Marlon Brown continues to be a non-factor at UGA (good decision, MB)

Most everyone that knows football,KNows these things happen. It will get better with our run game.I'll take a 26 point win every day but you can't please everyone

Atleast we are not Auburn and Kentucky, hell even SC looked like total garbage in there game.

when they have 9 in the box and we still call a run through the middle... where is the gap?

My problem with Poole is not when there is no lane to run through. It's when there are two choices, he inevitably picks the wrong one. When there is only one lane, he does fine, as evident by 3 or 4 runs last night. It was the 8-10 runs that he missed the obvious choice that makes him merely serviceable rather than a solid running back.

Everybody seriously needs to get off Tauren Poole. Montana was obviously stacking hard against the run. Poole is our guy. He's our star and a very good running back. The man had one bad game (which was really not his fault) and everybody is so quick to give up on him. I would hate for him to come read these boards and see that all his "true VFL fans" are taking shots at him. I'm still very excited to see what he brings this year. GBO.

I think some of you are being a little hard on Poole. The OL looked absolutely pitiful on run blocking last night.

So, running with your head down is what you want to see in a running back?

How can a running back see the holes open up, if he's looking at the turf?

I saw Poole lower his head and shoulders, anticipating the hit, well before the hit came on many of his runs.

The one exception is the big run he had to the right.

He needs to keep his head on a swivel and look for the opening better

Maybe, but I remember last year when he would stop dead if someone was tracking him to the outside instead of trying to beat them to the corner. If you recall, Dooley told Poole his wife even asked him "How come Tauren stops running?"

Well, congratulations on that I'm glad you were able to scream the team on to victory.

We'll see how Lane handles tougher defenses, but I definitely expect him to take the starting job by November. He had great vision and the drive to get the extra yard that we haven't seen in a while.
