Friday weigh in thread (suns out guns out challenge 8/30/24)

I haven’t posted on here in a while. I reached my goal weight (under 160) a few months ago, but now I’m 149.5! I haven’t been able to lift weights for about a month because I’ve had a neck/back injury from overworking myself in the gym.

I hope I can get back to lifting soon. I’ll need to be smarter about it, though. Now that I’m at my target weight, I don’t think I’ll be pushing myself too hard when I restart.

Early morning doc appt (I've got to start saying "no" to those 8:15 time slots,) so I trust their scales to be accurate. I bump mine up a bit bc the flooring is textured. 103.2...ugh. I feel like I'm living that Springsteen song: One step up and two steps back.

Listen to your body. And slow roll it when you get better. Dont go straight back to what you were doing before. Even stuff not related to neck or back.

Not sure about you, but it's been painful for me learning I am not young anymore. Had to change my perspective on stuff

Yup. That’s exactly the lesson I have had to learn. I just hope I get better. Rehab has been very slow so far, but I’m doing much better this month than I was doing last month. I have to look at it month-to-month, because day-to-day is like a roller coaster.

And its probably something that in your lower 20s may have had you down for a week with no rehab required.

I pulled a muscle in my shoulder and was down for two weeks, and third week I was doing upper body stuff that didnt put much strain on shoulder, and still at half. Week four I started doing some basic shoulder stuff.

7/1: +1.0 Not surprised: the spinal arthritis flared up from getting a bit overeager, so left leg crapped out, so pretty minimal exercise. Using a hiking pole to protect against falls.

I think it’s about over now, and I can get back on it. God bless naproxen.

-7.2 total since 5/23

7/1 - a very disappointing 192.

Really thought I’d be in the 180’s for the first time in 10-15 years, this week. Not sure how I only dropped one pound.

I know the disappointing feeling, but don’t be too hard on yourself. You’ve lost 7 pounds in only 3 weeks. That’s an excellent and very healthy pace. Weight loss takes effort, consistency, will power, and TIME. You are in it for the long haul, not the quick fix. What you are doing is working. Just keep it rolling. You will get there with healthy nutrition and safe physical activity.

Also, remember, weight fluctuates +/- 2 pounds throughout the day. You could weigh yourself tomorrow and be under 190. Then the next day, you could be 193. The body goes through changes constantly, especially when you are losing weight.

When I was on my weight loss journey, and I felt discouraged after a week that did not produce results that I desired, I always had to remind myself how far I had come. Be proud of what you have accomplished so far, stay the course, and you will get there!
