Friday weigh in thread (suns out guns out challenge 8/30/24)

Jan. 27 - 227 pounds, the heaviest I've ever been. 2020 included lots of sedentary days with "moderate" drinking ranging from a beer to eight per day. I gained about 15 pounds that year. I knew at this point I needed to lose weight. I started exercises casually, 3 times a week, but I didn't change my diet that much. I only gave up my bad habit of late-night-snacking.

July 9 - 219; This is when I started taking it seriously. I started exercising 5 times a week for an hour each session, trying to get my heart rate up to 150 and maintain it for the duration. I also started a stricter diet - eating less than 1800 calories per day, high protein & low calorie ratio concentration, no late-night-snacking, and working on portion control (don't eat a half pint of ice cream, eat 3 bites of ice cream instead.)

Today - 182 (first time I was actually able to exercise 5 times per week in a while. I was going 3 times a week several times in a row, but still maintaining my diet).

I haven't been this light since the W. Bush administration. I looked in the mirror the other day and said, "Wow, I have a collarbone!" It feels good. Yes, I'm bragging. If anyone loses 40+ pounds in less than a year, I want to hear them brag about it.
That's great, keep up the good work and I'm with you on the Bush time period. However you put a challenge and must accept(brag)

Yes, I've been keeping up with yours. Very impressive. How did you lose 17 pounds in the first 2 weeks?

To be honest, I really don't know. I stopped drinking beer, cut out all sugar, very low carbs along with one meal a day.
Oh, I couldn't do only one meal a day. I've definitely cut back on beer, sugar, and carbs, though.
I’m type 2 diabetic so I wouldn’t be able to do that either. I eat light meals about 6 times a day to keep my glucose steady.

My weight fluctuated a lot this week. On Monday morning, I was 186. That baffled me. How did I gain 4 pounds in 2 days??? I was then 179 on Wednesday. I thought I was evening out here, but then this morning after my workout I was 181. I have no idea what’s going on. I mean, I have been fluctuating a little bit throughout my weight loss, but nothing like this.

Timing of body functions can be a pound or more difference.

Today - 177

It's official - I have lost 50 pounds since the beginning of this year. My goal is to get into the 160s, but I honestly never thought I'd get this far. I've tried to lose weight in the past, but I never remained disciplined for longer than 2 months. Seeing the results throughout this year are what kept me motivated. I can only hope the Christmas holidays don't cause me to backtrack too much. I survived Thanksgiving. That was surprising.

You weight loss is very similar to my weight loss the last few months and we are very close with current weight. Do you mind telling me your height?
