Tennessee’s true freshman tight end is moving to offensive line, coach Butch Jones said during a news conference Monday. Jones thinks the 6-foot-5, 255-pound Brooks will make a smooth transition to the trenches.

Thought I saw him in the number 77. I think that is a great move for him, gives us a guy with amazing athleticism at tackle.

Well Dobbs has hit his O lineman with more passes than his Tight ends this year. Maybe Brooks doesn't know he's graduating?

Has the length and recruited as a TE, he should have good footwork. Hope he can make the move to tackle, Vols sure need help there.

If Vols can get Tuttle back and if other young DTs can step up, it would be good to see McKenzie moved to offensive guard. Build and skill set better suited for OL.

Holy cow, maybe we are in more danger of dropping another game than I thought! That's a small dude to be playing the line in the SEC.

Would rather have an athletic 285 pound tackle than a stiff 315 pound tackle that can't get a hand on the end.

No way. Maybe a 285 lb center, but not a tackle. Can you imagine what Bama's #93 would do to a 285lb lineman?

Andy Heck was a 244 pound TE for Notre Dame when he was converted to OT...believe it was his sophomore year. Late 80's early 90's...yeah yeah different times, also less advanced weight training and nutrition science. First round draft pick and a consistent Pro Bowler at the next level. And this example popped up pretty easily. Been done many times. TEs are sometimes viewed as auxiliary OL for a reason...they're convert-ready. Good move IMO.

We also converted the kid from Maryville from TE to T. Aaron Douglas I think it was. Turned out to be a great move for him. Until he transferred unfortunately.

Now we know why we are taking two TEs in the 2017 class. Brooks is a big kid. I would say that he could handle the extra weight. Also CBJ is a fan of quick mobile OTs.

Much different era. In 1985 Mark Hovanic played nt for the Vols at 245lb.
