Tennessee's Tobias Harris headlines group - Luke Winn - SI.com

nice article on Tennessee's star freshman with pictures of harris in action. this is good to see on there front page of the basketball page! is he gone after this year? has there been a better freshman at tennessee that has been as good and lived up to his hype (to date)?

oh yeah, 2 players come mind when i think of great freshmen that lived up to that. first, bernard king, (i'm telling my age now, and allan houston. king played on a solid team with grunfeld and m jackson. the sad thing was ,allan played on a very bad tennessee team. could go on forever about these 2 but------

king and houston were great, but this guy has the talent to be better than both. i don't believe any freshman will come in and average at least 22 points a game like houston did. king averaged more than that, so no way anyone will do that, but harris has the shot to be the multi-tooled player that can average about 17 points, 8 rebounds and 2.5 assists. i hope he stays at least 3 years but i doubt it.

King is still the best player to ever play at TN. Harris is very good, but not at King's level. Allen Houston played a different position, but would be #2 as a freshman to King. Harris would be #3.

The author seems to really understand the freshman process. Good to see that Tobias' dad was knowledgable and helped Tobias get down to a final 4 or 3 schools but let him make the final choice out of those based on his other personal factors. (School layout, city/town atmosphere, ect.)

I have a feeling this won't be the last time he is on the cover of something. I'd say he'll probably be on the cover of many publications before his career is done.

Harris has played 6 games, so of course you can't say he's the best player to play at UT. I think he has the talent to end up as the best.....

UT's my alma mater and I've lived a bunch of years in Knoxville. I have a fondness for both. That said, it says a whole bunch about WVU's academics and Morgantown that they were so decisive in Harris picking Tennessee.

It's nice to see a kid and his family actually put thought into their descion...most kids who are of Tobias' caliber just simple say...well it is between Kentucky, Duke, North Carolina and Kansas.

Then the kid gets buried on the depth chart and when he does get to play he is playing out of his element and it doesn't work for him or the school.

Can't wait to see this kid grow and develop into one of the all-time greats here at UT.

WVU will take anything with a pulse in regards to their academic standards and from everything that I have heard Morgantown is nothing to write home about.

That was the key to the teams Rich Rod built there. If a player couldn't get into an SEC or ACC school, West Virginia was right there to scoop them up.

Morgantown's a great place to go get your drink on for a weekend. It would be hard to fathom how to pass the time over four years without wrecking a liver.
