I agree, especially if Rumph has anything to say about it. He had a history at Florida of starting young DBs. Nothing unusual to find a freshman starting at corner on game one, just saying.

I doubt Rumph is gonna be making that call, and unlikely he made the call when he was at UF.

Can't make many more busts then some of our CBs and Safety's last year.... Ahmmm Abernathy..... And basically every other DB besides Gaulden.

Agreed. I cannot see any kid that played DB for the Vols last year starting or even playing much of a role this year other than Warrior. It's why Pruitt spent so much time with the DBs personally IMO.

I believe Taylor will start opposite of Buchanan against West Virginia but Thompson is gonna play a lot, Buchanan will probably have a short leash. Flowers is not gonna start but he is gonna play, I think we will see a different Abernathy under Pruitt and the Kelly we saw a few years ago.

Alonte is the next Cam for us if it all goes right

He needs to be better than Cam and I believe he has the potential to be. He’s longer, bigger, more athletic. Cam had his best year at UT as a freshman. We need to Alontae to be good as a freshman and eventually grow into an All-SEC type player.

And they need to be. Cam far exceeded expectations as a freshman and then never quite met expectations as a upperclassman. We need both those guys to be better than Cam was as their careers here progress

How many freshman can start in this secondary? Alonte seems to be a clear lock at corner and trevon flowers looks very fluid out there. Is there a chance that Baylen, Abernathy, and Osborne get phased out. Bryce is athletic as can be and Flowers looks like he might get the chance opposite Nigel. Can all three end up starting by mid season? We’ve only had 3 practices but man these young guys look impressive

If the freshman are better. The freshman should start! I love to see the competition. This is only going to breed better football players in house.
