Auburn was hosed at OU and put up a pathetic offensive performance Saturday at A&M. Feels like they are an ugly loss away from the wheels coming off. A large portion of their fanbase is already calling for him to be fired. They put up 177 yards against A&M. This is the 3rd straight season they’ve started 0-2 in conference. That’s the first time in their history that’s happened.

Will be interesting to watch going forward. What will it take for him to be fired this season?

Freeze is gonna have to find a way to 7 wins if he wants to keep his job. They have a decent chance after UGA (loss).

Mizzu is not an elite team, but they are likely better than Auburn. Still Auburn's defense should keep it close. Toss up, but Mizzu favored
Arky is in shambles,. and this should be a win.
UK sucks, should be a win.
I am not a believer at all in Vandy, who has a trash defense (Bama is gonna boat race them next week in a revenge game). Toss up, but slight Vandy lean right now.
Mercer. - easy win.

So 4-1 over that stretch seems doable before the Iron Bowl, which they should lose, but can go either way in a rivalry game. That would get them to 7-5 and likely saves Freeze for another season.

Of course regardless what happens in those games, a win vs UGA or Bama would save his job automatically.

I think getting to 7 may be just enough to save him. But I wouldn’t be surprised if some of their top talent transfers out. The WRs on that team can’t be happy.

UK maybe their only chance for a SEC W. A W over Georgia or Bama could save his job but hard to see that happening.

This is his third year. So, patience is worn thin. I think buyout cost plus what is still being paid to Gus has to be a big consideration.
Enough going to Gus that it is limiting NIL money?? Freeze should have been able to do better than Jackson Arnold. Geez. Look at what the Rebs are getting from their DII backup/now starter. And the McIvor kid at WKU from ACU that no one got in line for.

I think taking one of those two games is a must.

For anyone that ever takes the AU job though, you have to go in knowing you're a short timer. Auburn could never outspend Bama under the table or in a free market. From what everyone says on here about the admin and boosters, it also sounds about as fun as the FL job.

My son goes to WKU. I have a passing interest in that team now. Kid's a gamer.

Your son or McIvor? What's the kid's name/number.

I have a passing interest in WKU this season cause as a 2 year alum, I follow most things ACU and they picked up McIvor. He's quite good IMO. Will probably atleast get a UFA offer next round.

My son. He's not on the team. I just pay attention to their games because he's enrolled.

Gotcha. But I agree Mcivor is a gamer, and probably could have been a better choice for some P4 teams this year. They got boat raced by Tulsa somehow. Prob shouldn't have. But, it would not shock me at all if they upset KY this year.

LSU is playing WKU this year.

A house divided. McRib against McSon.

Oh. I might have my schedules crossed up. It's TnTech playing KY, and WKU got waxed by Toledo, not Tulsa. WKU should not have lost to Toledo. ACU got waxed by Tulsa. ACU is bold though. Tulsa is playing up for them and they had TCU in game 3. That's two FBS teams with one of them P4 in 1st 3 games.

Don't see TnTech upsetting KY, but this is a terrible KY team even by their standards. They're far from their 5-0/6-0 start before the schedule kicks in like they normally do.

The long time sports writer who runs Auburn's 247 site says if he goes 8-4 he's safe. He didn't actually say what it might take to get him fired. I'm not even sure that's in the vicinity of the table.

Well, you gotta have money to pay to run with the Bama's of the south and most of that is going to Gus right now.

If Coach Freeze wins 6 games with this team he is a genius. They look terrible when I watch them.
The defense looks much improved. It's probably top 25 nationally. Holding A&M to 16 points is really impressive.

Their offense has been super mediocre in SEC play, but it's not the worst in the SEC. I could honestly see them getting to 8 wins if things fall right for them. But I could also see them going 5-7 again.

I get that people should get 2nd chances, but with P4 players, Freeze put a hard ceiling on his ressurrection from his Ole Miss debacle. Auburn should have been able to do better. But, I guess with Gus' buyout, Giving Freeze a redemption tour was the best they could afford. I just don't get Freeze going for Arnold. He's a better QB analyst than that.

The key for Reverend Freeze is the 5 games between UGA and Alabama. He needs to go 5-0 in those games.

They should beat Arkansas, UK, and Mercer. Mizzou and Vandy are good teams, but their fans will consider losses in either of those games to be unacceptable. Of course if he beat Alabama in the Iron Bowl (the game is in Auburn) he might end up buying himself another year even if he fades down the stretch.

I find it strange that Drinkwitz finds a way to keep Mizzou in competitive conversations and actually wins. He acts like the kid next door that pulls the flowers out of your flower beds

I feel sick to my stomach just typing this, but Drinkwitz is probably the single most underrated coach in the sport for the last couple of years. I honestly don't think he's gotten enough credit outside of their own fanbase for what he's done there. That isn't an easy place to win, especially as a member of the SEC. I still think it is weird they're in this conference. I get it, but it's weird.

Their entire program doesn't get enough credit, honestly. I heard a lot about how they were going to be the "new Vandy" when they joined, yet they are exactly .500 in conference play (53-53).
