Free Throws

Yep...a buzzer beater 3 like that is a bad way to lose a game...but if we had even hit 66% of our FTs, which I think is reasonable, then we would have won by 2 even with that 3 at the end. I like how the team responded when down...but to be that miserable from the charity stripe?

I'm pretty sure they've been practicing free throws, they just seem to miss some in the beginning and get all down on themselves and act like they've never made one before. I heard Bruce say in an interview that they will make them when they count..............they all count.

Let's not forget to blame that crappy crowd for making Alabama feel like they were playing at home. Tennessee fans have to be some of the worst in the country when it comes to making any kind of home advantage. What a disgrace.

it's hard to cheer for a team when they are playing lazy stupid bball...the few times that they did play decently, the crowd was into it.....gotta give them something to cheer about.....

And there you have it. Tennessee fans refuse to cheer unless the players give them something to cheer about. Not all schools are that way.

Free throws SHmee throws....

Who needs 'em ? They're only worth one point anyway...

Memphis didn't need them to get to the National Championship last year. Just ask Coach Cal...

Boom, roasted.

John Calipari said the same thing last year and it was just as dumb then. If a team can't make them in a game of lesser importance, how can you just assume they'll make them in a game that really matters when the pressure is magnified. That's either a stupid statement or a ploy meant to take pressure off of players who haven't prepared themselves.

Teams that shoot free throws poorly tend to be weak teams--or teams headed for an early exit come tourney time, whether conference or the big dance. It's pathetic. Good teams make free throws--period. It's one of the iron laws of basketball.

Not to mention several were 1 and 1s.

Good point. You might as well count those misses as "0-2s." And, the misses came as we were pulling close/ahead and really needed them to keep the momentum. This team is just a mystery. . . .one night on, one night off. Maybe it's the youth, maybe it's the coaching, maybe it just isn't our year. I don't know.

That 0-4 stretch immediately after getting within one point was brutal. Brew-tuhl...
