My 15 year son went to Gainsville yesterday with friends family. They are big gator boosters.

On the way to the stadium a big limo pulls over and Fred Thompson gets out. He is shaking hands and working the crowd.

Remember this is a "blue-out" so all the Gators are in blue. My son is wearing a orange 1998 National Champ shirt, orange checkerboard shorts, and a UT hat.

Fred spots him and make a b-line for him through the crowd of gators. They shake hands and then my son walks with him towards the stadium. They got to exchange a few words.

It made my sons day -- even with the loss.

My son said most of the Gator fans didn't know that Fred is a UT fan.

They had gathered an orange wave in the sea of blue by the time they got to the stadium.

My son said "man he is HUGE and he just seems to walk like he owned the campus". He does have that image, even if you don't like the politics.

I heard he was in a blue shirt as well. His comments to the press were that he had friends who are Gators and friends who are Vols so he sticks with his friends....ambiguous?

He's just another politician. There's nothing special about him.

Ambiguous? Certainly. Hypocrite would be another nice descriptor...

I was trying to be polite. I've been attacked for being so negative against the messiah of the GOP. Free advice for him....don't go to Florida Republicans saying you know their issues and then say you have no information about the Terry Schiavo case to comment on it.

But I digress....your descriptor is accurate.

Sounds like to me he is just another Tennessee suck up like Kenny Chesney.....

It's called pandering....the kool aid is supposed to make you think he's beyond pandering. But those not drinking it clearly see the truth.

On another note Giuliani and Romney campaigns were passing out Gators for Giuliani and Gators for Romney material. I guess both of them knew what was coming in the final score as well.

He was sitting in the presidents box, so he needed to dress the part.

It is sad that the big memory of the UT-UF game is meeting a GOP presidential candidate, and not the game.

I heard that his Mom was a big UT fan.

Not much to follow for Memphis and Vandy in the years Fred was there.
