Rickey Gibson (TAMU) 4th CB
Peyton Lewis (UVA) 3rd RB
Caleb Herring (USCe) 4th DE
Jack VanDorsealer (OU) 3rd TE
Ross (LSU) 3rd or 4th DE

Caleb Herring stands out to me.
He would be starting here and not a backup imo.

Peyton Lewis is not as shifty as Gordon. Lewis in fact is not better than thE two UVA RBs in front of him. They’re both good! Brown and Middlebooks.

JVD- had a good spring but is behind two RS/SR. Still looks like a good move for him to OU.

Ross- don’t know what’s going on there.

Gibson- some talented guys in front of him too.

It makes you take a second look at our talent because all of these guys would have either started or been in the two deep at Tennessee…

Lewis could never get beyond the second level against any defense that I recall. If he had stayed, he would be a good option at short yardage situations or goal line TDs. The RBs on our roster now are more talented runners with better vision imo.

Not sure Gibson would be starting here.
Peyton Lewis would be 3rd string at best
JVD would be the back up tight end
Not sure Herring or Ross would be starting either. They are not the prototype DE that Knowles wants. Knowles wants bigger defensive ends.

That is interesting. I think I mentally blocked out the fact that Gibson and Ross were still playing college ball elsewhere.

And they also thought Chaz Coleman would be bringing the heat.

Ross and Herring would've only needed to gain 15 lbs.
I think Jordan Norman is 265. And Ross and Herring are both 245 ish? Maybe 250. They could have easily gained that under Derek Owings and not lose any speed. Especially Ross.

I checked all the teams guides pregame week starting lineup and they were all 2nd string.

Jordan Matthews was from 2 years ago or last year, I didn’t want to go that far back.

Hopefully Max Gilbert gets his mojo back

Ross was the biggest departure imo. He would be getting a lot of snaps here.

Lewis, VanD, meh. Gibson, Herring and Ross would really help this team. Earlier reports I’d heard on Ross were positive and that he likely starts.

Really rooting for Max! When there was no pressure, he'd drill long FGs, but as soon as it mattered, he'd get the yips! He just needs to get his confidence and he can be a great Kicker.

So Arkansas has Steven Soles (former Powell player that Tennessee didn’t think was good enough)
- Christian Harrison who played well for Tennessee but was suggested to leave by Banks because of Boo Carter
- Max Gilbert we know his struggles.

Anyway they all start for Arkansas now. And damn if we don’t have to travel there to play them again. Thanks goodness we have a better QB this time around.

Absolutely. I think of all things it was a money thing.

Yet we’re going to pay more to a less proven player in Coleman. And we end up with neither.
It sucks because yeah we needed him.

No we’re hoping that Norman is just that good and Gass can provide a spark.

Gilbert never lost any mojo, he just missed that Georgia kick and the crowd turned on him. Once that got in his head, he was cooked. Statistically he had a better than average freshman season, and was just about as good as a sophomore. About 74-75% on kicks. He's not an Alex Walls or a Chase McGrath, but he's going to do fine.

Only because we're pretty thin at OLB. He's not particularly good. We are talking about a guy that had 1.5 sacks on 22 games, and only 26 total tackles. He looked like a big time prospect, but his production was no where near that.

JVD is the biggest loss, because we're pretty unproven behind Davis, who is also injury prone. I think Brame will be a better player, but JVD was a good blocking option.

It's going to be interesting to see how JK utilizes his edge players. I am expecting Dye and Weathersby to have big numbers this year with Norman getting plenty of opportunities as well. Not going to be surprised at all if some of our LBs line on the edge to rush the passer on throwing downs. People forget that Gass had some legit offers from big time schools and ultimately chose UT over UGA and USC.

Ross was only going to get better. There weren't that many defenders from last years defense to brag about either.
