I am curious to know the opinion of former players on the current state of the program. Have any of you read or had conversations you can pass along to the Nation? I would really like to hear their perspective on what we can do to get our swagger back. You can leave out conversations such as "just fire the coaches". We all know that this would initiate a change, but what "change" would that be? Players pespectives only, please.

I did hear Fred White say that they made the wrong hire in Cut...

I am not a former Vol, but the few former Vols that I know are not all that happy with the current situation.

That's interesting considering the UT's scoring avg has risen in two years to levels better than most of the 90's... while the ST's and D are allowing one of the worst avgs in school history if not THE worst.

I'd be interested in knowing exactly what's not to like about the progress Cut has made with the O. They aren't perfect yet by any stretch but they are roughly 10 ppg ahead of where they were for the Sanders years sans 05. They're almost double what UT avg'd in 05... and UT isn't scoring on ST's.

Would 2-2 with an embarassing loss in a game that the team quit in play into the unhappiness? If so, than i have the mentality of a former Vol.

I can understand 2-2, wouldn't be disappointed with losses to Cal and UF, the Cal game was relatively close, save for the Fumble for a TD and the punt return....i think i saw the same movie a few weeks later, though.

The guys freakin quit after the 28-20 turnover. No excuse, but the coaches deserve to catch hell for it. Urban didn't call off the dogs once the game was in hand, either, but that's no excuse. I've seen High School kids hustle and work hard every play when trailing by 40, we stopped doing that after the fumble

We don't need swagger. We need solid play. We have plenty of swagger. We have too much swagger. We have a bunch of prima donnas that can't back up their statements.

I had heard J.J. McCleskey had said something about the current team, but wasn't able to gather what some of his criticisms were.

A friend of the family was one of the 1967 Championship players honored during the game last week. He said that during the pre-ceremony get-together most all of the former players in attendance were in agreeement that there had to be a change and the game had passed Fulmer by.

To clarify, I meant the swagger that you feel when you know your team will line up on Saturdays in the fall and lay the wood like Paul Bunyan.

I see. What you're looking for is swagger in UT fans. We have WAY too much of that too. There were FAR too many delusional fans that were predicting going into this season that we would be a force in the SEC and potentially win the SEC championship. It's a shame that so many people can't see the signs of a negative trend until the implosion occurs.

By the way, how big of a UT fan can you possibly be if you don't even know how to correctly spell the name of the state?

I'm not a former Vol player but I play one on TV and I'm saying the state of the program has been shot to hell...

It's just a user name on an internet forum where the user name Tennesseevol was taken. Big deal, so I changed a few letters. Not sure what provoked you to question how big a fan I am.

Don't worry about 423's opinions too much. Nobody else does.
