Former VOLS HC Jeremy Pruitt Suing NCAA over Show Cause

Pruitt did some good things but overshadowed by the bad things. He brought or bought some talent that Heupel won some games with. Always had good defense ready after a bye week(Auburn). Went on 8 game winning streak over parts of two seasons. Old school when he was kicking whiteboards and grabbing face mask he was winning. I think someone in administration told him he couldn’t coach like that, and evidently that was the only way he could coach.

He was a poor head coach but let's just face it the punishment did not fit the crime. If you look at what has been going on at the NCAA's pet programs for years with them turning a blind eye, it is egregious and he should sue them for damages. To take a guys ability to make a living for doing what literally every other school and head coach was doing is ridiculous. He learned how to do it from their favored boy Saban.
The punishment that didn’t fit the crime was Pearl’s. Show cause for that?

Pruitt just did what Alabama, Auburn, and LSU always do. Standard operating procedure.

What those other schools understand though is that you can't hire someone from Alabama to head up that kind of operation. They're not capable.

I just can't hate on the guy. I know his dad, he coached at my high school. Dad's a good guy. Honestly, Fulmer should have never hired him. He wasn't ready for the big time yet. He was in over his head. He realized he wasn't winning, panicked, and started offering money and being backhanded. He failed.

Dude was a stellar defensive coordinator, and there was no reason to think that he was gonna be anything less than Kirby Smart (except Kirby inherited a lot better situation). JP was a brilliant defensive mind, and a good recruiter. But he was not a good leader, and could not be the CEO of a program. Hopefully he has learned from his mistakes and is able to have some success as a coach again...in a school not named Tennessee.

Don't care for him at all, but I agree that he knows defense. I still remember the Auburn game where the mic picked him up on the sideline telling Baylen Buchanan the play that Auburn was going to run before they even snapped it....and he was right. I'd be willing to let bygones be bygones if he wants to come back strictly as our D coordinator. May get some flack for that, but I'd love to see a complete 1998-esque Tennessee team one day soon.

Don't like the man, but let him coach if someone is dumb enough to hire him

For all his garbage, with current CFB rules what he did was not that egregious

If Jax St wants him let them have him-but they are responsible for what happens on his watch. As long as he is banned from any association with UT barring a visit on the opposing sideline-I have no issues with him coaching.

Pruitt is the head coach of my son’s high school. They just finished the regular season undefeated, first time that’s happened since 99. It’s a fairly weak region but the boys are playing some good football right now.
