(WVLT) -- Former University of Tennessee offensive tackle Jason Layman is improving at the UT Medical Center after suffering multiple broken bones over the weekend.

Layman's father says Jason, who works as a land-appraiser for Tennessee State Bank, was a passenger on an all-terrain vehicle off Upper Rinehart Road Sunday night in Jefferson County when the ATV slid down an embankment and hit a tree.

Layman broke all four bones in his legs and his collar bone, he was lifted to the hospital via LifeStar and was in stable condition Thursday night.

His father says Jason was riding along with a client interested in purchasing property.

Layman played at UT from 1992-1995, he was a captain his senior season. He played with the Houston Oilers and Tennessee Titans in the NFL.

not sure, think he did tell a qb maybe peyton to just shut up and call the play...lol. Must've been a heck of a collision to break a big man like that up that bad.

It was PM's frosh year. I've heard PM tell that tons of times. He still laughs about it and calls it the most humbling moment his whole career at UT. :)
