This team was memorable for shredding Florida, burning Kentucky and actually giving its all in the SEC tournament, which is more than you can say for a lot of our higher-ranked squads. Lots of great moments for a team with obvious roster challenges. Proud of Armani, KP, Derek and Devon for giving it everything in their last year.

Very proud of this team, and I am convinced that RB is going to get things going in the right direction! Guarantee it!

I'll bet LSU and Vandy fans wish their team would play with half the effort of our under-manned rag-tag roster of undersized over-achievers.

I totally agree, outside of the elite 8 team from a few years ago this was a team I enjoyed seeing battle. I think the way the responded to a multitude of road bumps speaks well of the coaches.

A good list of very satisfying wins for sure

Not to be that guy, but there is a longer list of disappointing losses. Not blaming that totally on the coach, but the losses happened and seem to be forgotten because of the good showing in the tourney.

No experienced big men. No point guard, especially when Painter went down. No consistent 3 point shooter. They lose their best player (Painter). And yet they battled to some wins against the odds. If we get some big men and a point guard we can look for some NCAA runs in the future. Barnes did it at Texas and there is no reason to believe he can't do it here.

You're forgetting that Rick Barnes didn't have much to work with and still got some good quality wins. He didn't have a roster full of 5*s like Calipari has.

I think this was one of the worst things @ the Dooley years in FB. We sucked of course, but nowhere in there were we able to steal a big upset win. Nothing to hang your hat on is depressing, even when you know you're gonna have a rough year.

CRB had some puzzling losses, but some huge wins to enjoy. It all washed out @ like we expected with this roster. But it is nice to beat UK, UK & upset USC & LSU.

That's true, but TCU, Missouri , and the way they played the last week of the reg season has to fall some on the coach.

We'll have to give Barnes a couple more years. I think next year we'll be about the same but the year after he should have this program rolling by then. Very good coach and very good player developer.

With all the challenges, definitely a successful season. At least we won a bunch of games we weren't supposed to...Now, figure out how to win on the road for next season, and we will be fine.

If you don't make NCAA tourney, I judge a season based on how much I enjoyed what we did in individual games. Beating Florida , LSU, SC, UK at home and knocking Vandy out of SEC and probably NCAA made for a pretty enjoyable year considering our talent level.

Winning a few more games against other mediocre teams and never having any sense of a big win would have been more disappointing to me than how our season turned court.

True I enjoyed alot of the games except 2 - the losses at TCU and Missouri

A Puzzling season, to be sure.

What in the world was puzzling? We were picked 13th in the SEC and finished 12th. We had one of our least talented and smallest rosters ever and beat some teams that most gave us no chance against. We went 2-1 in the SEC tourney when most people (me included) didn't give us much of a chance. The only thing puzzling to me was how in the hell we beat Fla, So Car, Ky, LSU, and Vandy with that roster.

It was puzzling because while wins over Fla, South Carolina, KY and LSU were great, we went like 1-13 away from Home. How in the world could we beat those teams but lose practically EVERY game away from home. A lot of the losses weren't due to lack of talent or lack of a PG/Center. A lot of it had to with lack of effort.

We only showed up at home. Barnes has to take some blame for that.

THAT is why it's been a puzzling season.

No, if you saw the size of our team in person then it's not that puzzling. Did you see them live this year? If you did, then you should know. I saw them compared to LSU, A & M and Fla and they looked like a team that didn't belong based on looks. They looked like a low mid-major in size. Their heart, however, got them the wins they did. They were undersized as hell. You have to have good guard play and outside shooters to offset that and play your ass off and we did for the most part. The TCU and Mizzou games pissed me off the most. Those were winnable games. We had the Bama game in hand too and crumbled down the stretch like we did against A & M. A & M is legit though. They will give any NCAA team fits.

The road is always tougher to win than at home. Hell, look at Vandy's record on the road vs. at home. They had 3 times the talent that UT did and lost at Ole Miss, Miss St, and Ark and on a neutral court to UT. The teams that can win on the road separate themselves. That's why A & M and Ky are the only locks in the NCAA out of the SEC.

We also showed up at the SEC tourney and not just at home which is rare for this program.

So you thought some of the wins and losses were also puzzling.

See above.

Would you rather win the games we were "supposed" to win or the one that we weren't? Okay they lost to Mizzou but beat UK that's fine by me. They lost to TCU but beat Vandy in the tourney, I'll take that trade off, etc.

Either way it evens out. The team performed as well as you could realistically expect them to with zero size, inexperienced young guys getting valuable minutes, and limited/inconsistent experienced talent.
