They are trying to beat Bethesda to the punch. I can promise you starfield will be better. This could itch the scratch until it's released tho.
I'm sure it will be before it's a over. Hard to say what Starfield will be at launch though. New Vegas was a mess for a like a year before it became everyone's favorite Fallout game.
Excited for Starfield, but the Cyberpunk fiasco was it for me as far as trusting any developer. Bethesda isnt really batting 1.000 right now either.
Before the Cyberpunk mess, CD Project Red was above reproach and considered one of the best studios out there. Just saying Starfield has the same hype and hope it doesn’t fail to meet them the way Cyberpunk did. They have supposedly been making this Starfield game forever, so just hoping it doesn’t fall into the same overglorified and severely underperforming products we now only seem to get from AAA.I’m quite excited for Starfield. I am sure there will be some issues in the beginning as there always will be, but I’m still going to play day 1. Cyberpunk I was interested in but only mildly. The story and world of the game is not really the type I enjoy. What really threw up all of the red flags were the consistent push backs. As soon as the second one happened I new it was going have a ton of issues after launch. And the amount of hype that was generated for that game it was just destined to fail.
Yeah I'm not really understanding the excitement over Starfield when all we've seen is a CGI trailer and no gameplay. I hope it's better than Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, as both of those were very underwhelming imo. Before the Cyberpunk mess, CD Project Red was above reproach and considered one of the best studios out there. True, but it was Bethesda's engine and based heavily on Fallout 3. It's not like Obsidian started from scratch on the development. Lord knows other Bethesda games have had issues at launch too. Oblivion was a mess and even Skyrm had some weird early bugs on day 1. Bethesda makes great games but people tend to forget the early hiccups because their games have such staying power. Also they are under new ownership, it's thier first original IP in forever, and in a new genre for them. Their are a lot of variables at work. I have no doubt Starfield will be a banger of a game. But, I bet it'll be buggy at launch. To be fair, Bethesda wasn’t the developer of NV. They were the Publisher, but if I remember correctly they didn’t really have but maybe a few hands on the game.
People forget that The Witcher 3 had issues early on. It became arguably greatest game of the generation, because of the amazing support CPR gave it. But it was far from perfect to start. Games like it and Elder Scrolls/Fallout are so complex that it's almost unavoidable. I don't buy games like it for 6 months - a year after the jump, for that very reason. Before the Cyberpunk mess, CD Project Red was above reproach and considered one of the best studios out there. It had issues, but nothing compared to what Cyberpunk was. I’m hoping to get back to it once they release the next gen patch, but they really screwed up the launch and there was a lot of lying and hiding or that.People forget that The Witcher 3 had issues early on. Cyberpunk didn't have "issues". It was a disaster. I'm not sure CPR can save it, no matter how much support they give it.It had issues, but nothing compared to what Cyberpunk was. I think Starfield will be fantastic. Microsoft's purchase of Bethesda is a major reason I plan to go Xbox this gen. It just scares me to see Bethesda getting held up like a golden calf after the Cyberpunk fiasco. I can just see that it game getting dragged like it's the same, when every noticeable bug will likely be ironed out in 6-12 months.See me post above this one for a lot of my answer to this one. Bethesda games do have bugs. With how big Oblivion and Skyrim were your only asking for them to be there. Cyberpunk was on another level like you said earlier. Complete devastation that will always haunt it for years to come. No Man’s Sky is one heck of a story. They have such a huge and loyal fanbase now. I wish we had more developers that were as invested in some of their IPs as No Mans Sky’s. In no way am I trying to give a pass to Bethesda, though.
Also, I think Starfield being a completely new genre for Bethesda is one of the reasons I am looking forward to playing it.
I think you guys are putting an awful lot of blind faith into Starfield without knowing very much about it or seeing one second of gameplay. If you're basing your excitement on Bethesda's track record, ehhh...Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, their last two projects, weren't exactly amazing and it's been a loooong time since Skyrim first came out. It very well may turn out to be amazing but I would like to at least see It running on an Xbox before we declare it GOTY. LOL!
You're right. I was being hyperbolic. I just meant that while I'm certainly interested in knowing more about Starfield and seeing actual gameplay I don't understand where the "excitement" is coming from given how little we even know or have seen about the game. Ilovedoubled's said "I can promise you Starfield will be better" when comparing it to Forever Skies. Well...OK. What is that based on exactly? Besides the fact that both games take place in outer space, are they even similar enough to each other to warrant comparison at all?Nobody is calling it GOTY. Just because we are excited doesn’t mean that we think it’s automatically going to blow everything else out of the water. Our excitement comes from what we’ve listed in previous posts and not in a huge fanboy way. There’s different levels of excitement and I’d say that JCHateSteve and I both have a healthy level of it.
As for unhealthy level of excitement I’m not sure any other game comes close to the level Cyberpunk reached lol
