Hello all. Looks like I will be switching from the sorta business path I was on to a double major of Poli Sci and History. This means I am one Spanish class short of meeting my foreign language requirement. Now my previous Spanish credits came in my Junior year of high school, which was 3 or 4 years ago. I hated it and was terrible at it then, and I'm not looking to jump right in to advanced third year spanish in college.

So long story short, I'm looking to completely start over in another language and wanted to get everyone's input. As for languages I'm considering I was thinking German, but for no reason in particular. I would ask which language is easiest but there is no real answer to that, and if there was, I'm sure it would be Spanish :realmad:. So anyway, can any of you foreign language people help me out? It would be greatly appreciated.

Do they speak German in Belgium? Just wondering...it's probably a really dumb question.

well, officially Belgium has 3 official languages. French in the south (where I live) Flemish in the north, and a very small section in the east right on the border with Germany that is German. Isn't that nuts?

A country smaller then Vermont that has three official languages.

Example, when I first got here, my sponser got me at the Airport, and pointed out that we had to take the train to Bergen, which was Mons, but in flemish, it didn't change to Mons (french name of the city) until we got closer. How do people live like this?

That is pretty nuts. My parents were stationed on AF bases in Germany and Spain, and they seemed to really love Germany (not so much spain). That's pretty much my only reason for considering studying German.
