For Whom The Bell Tolls

Once upon a time, an English village needed a bell ringer for their bell tower. They searched and search but could not find anyone to do the job because of the tremendous noise created by the bell when it chimed. Finally a man applied to the job. The stranger was hired on a trial basis because he had lost his arms due to an accident. Because of his condition he would take a run and bang the bell with his forehead which worked but it took its toll on the bell ringer.
All was going well for the first couple of weeks when one day he tripped and fell out of the bell tower to his death. A crowd gathered round his crumpled body as it lay in the street. A woman looked down at the stranger and asked if anyone knew his name. A man in the crowd said that he didn’t know his name but his face rang a bell.
So the town ran another ad for a bell ringer. Another stranger, who happened to be the twin sibling of the former bell ringer, applied for the job and was immediately hired. Even though he had both of his hands, he was rather clumsy like his brother. About two weeks went by and he too fell out of the tower to his death. The same crowd gathered around his crumpled body. The same lady asked if anyone knew this poor man’s name. The same man spoke up and said I don’t know his name but he’s a dead ringer for his brother.
The End
