For Those who Blame Hurd's Struggles on the Offensive Scheme

This running scheme isn't any different than Bama, OSU, Clemson etc etc etc

Bama isn't a spread team. So I disagree. The rest seem to run more downhill than ours. Only Bama's would have benefitted Hurd and he would have been playing safety.

I didn't mean for it to come out that way. All I was saying is he had 2 good years with the scheme and all of a sudden he wants to go old school. He gave up the FIGHT. Threw in the towel, raised the white flag-- however you want to phrase it he quit fighting. 5 more games and a rushing record under his belt and he was possibly NFL bound. Wish him success at the combines and finds a pro team still using the I.

Or a pro team that runs downhill...plenty of pro teams do that...hence "pro-style". :)

Overall, Hurd did a good job while he was here and fully engaged. But 4.7 ypc is nothing to brag about, even in the SEC; it's just OK. He gained a lot of yards at UT only because he got a lot of carries.

This.

Hurd's numbers were never terribly impressive, and he was never a home run threat. He's a good back. He's nowhere close to an elite back.

They've done quite a bit of it this year, namely because of Hurts.

It seems like now like we are cutting off our nose to spite our face. IMOH he made a very bad mistake! If I was his father I would have taking out for a drink told him as man your not going to have things go your way all the time! And tried my best to convince him to stay! But, it is what is I hope that they finish strong, I do feel like giving him I formations a few times would have help. But, like all of us on Vol Nations we can only speculate.

Touche' . Still at the end of the day no matter how anyone spins it he gave up.

That is a flaw...see it on scouting reports. Maybe he reinvents himself and actually benefits from this self-administered life lesson.
