We're also at a level where we have to worry about actually losing to Vandy or Kentucky.. That in itself is enough to fire a coach.

I agree.Tennessee should never be at a level that Candy&Kensucky are competetive with them on the Football field.Maybe once every two decades.

anybody that supports dooley must be a democrat "it takes more than 4 years for dooley to rebuild the program after fulmer screwed us".."it takes more than 4 years for obama to fix what bush did" see the stupidity in these obviously similar arguments. too bad we cant vote dooley out and the same morons will vote obama back in.
I see some improvement out of Dooley. Obama , not so much.

0-5, 0-5, 0-5. Improvements in certain statistics, when offset by larger decreases in other statistics, do not add up to an overall improvement. Certain parts of our team has improved, other parts have gone in the toilet. I assume you are calling for Sal's dismissal. There is no reason for anyone to believe that Sal's D will suddenly make huge strides forward next year.

Sal is gone if Dooley gets fired anyway. It's his first year implementing his defense and I honestly don't know if that merits being fired or not. I will leave that one up to the coaches knowing if they don't get it done next year, they are all gone.

I could explain to you the General Theory of Relativity if I took a notion to do so. If you would rather know about the Theory of Special Relativity, or even what the difference is between the two I could do that too. Perhaps you would like me to recite the quadratic formula or the Pythagorean theorem? I don't fully understand Quantum Mechanics, but I'd be willing to bet that I'm more versed on it than you. Perhaps History is your thing and you'd like to know how Copernicus concluded that our solar system is heliocentric (Earth is not the center of the solar system.)

The point is this:

I choose to type things like "Dooley blows" because I choose to, not because I am incapable of articulating my thoughts in a more intelligent manner. This is because I am not a know-it-all little b*** like you. And if you want to know about any of the aforementioned topics, go to college and get an education for yourself.

And it's his fault we are where we are?
Well how long does it take a guy too get to where we don't have to worry about the scrubs of the conference? It's not like this is still year 0... It's 3 years later and losing to either one or both is still a possibility. That's a "Process" i don't care a whole lot about...

Nothing here except another bash CDD and our coaches thread.

I can't waif ro another 15163840976978656452 new threads to be started to say the same old, tired, lame garbage over and over and over and over, ect, ect, ect.

Please LEARN that NOTHING anyone here on VN says will make any difference at all.

There's NOT 1 person on here that our big $$$ boosters or AD Hart will pay any attention to because all of us are meaningless to the situation they will analyse many more things than just a W/L record before making any decisions.

The MOST important decisions IMO are...

1...Will we get the $$$ to make a coaching change?

2...Will we get a huge HOMERUN hire?

If we can't get the HOMERUN hire then keep CDD 1 more year until we CAN go get the huge HOMERUN hire because firing CDD just to go out and get another CDD is a total waste of the $$$ and will only set us BACK another 4 or 5 years.

I also think it's going to be VERY hard to convince a really good coach/recruiter to come to Tennessee after we only let CDD recruit 2 of HIS own type of players and get them in school and on the football team.

History and traditions we have more of than most other schools in America but those things mean NOTHING to any coach that's being asked to come to Tennessee, play in the SEC, also face Oregon his 1st year, have a traditionally tough place to recruit to and to risk his personal reputation and his coaching career to take over a rebuilding task that's only 1/2 finished and with a fanbase that will scream to fire him and is dumb enough to paint the rock for the entire world to see.

Honestly, if I was a top football coach and on the rise I wouldn't come to Tennessee if you offered me $10 Million a year because I wouldn't subject my family to this type of immature BS when I could go elsewhere and not have to play in the SEC, have easier recruiting and still make lots more money!

This is a great post. I agree with every word. I was telling someone this morning that if a coach took this job next year, he would be nuts. I vote for keeping Dooley at least another year. Take a look at next year's schedule.

The new coach would have to play at Oregon, at Florida, and at Alabama. I think that you could count on one hand, the schools who would have a prayer of winning ANY of those 3 games, and they would be have to pull off an upset at that. So, there are 3 losses already. For the team to finish 8-4, they would have to win 3 out of 4 against Georgia, So. Carolina, Auburn, and Missouri at Missouri. If they lose 2 of those 4, then they finish 7-5, and people will be calling for their head.

A team that would be undefeated in some conferences could easily lose 5 games against this schedule. An 8-4 record would be a great accomplishment, and that won't be enough for the fanatical fan base.

I hope the next coach breaks the "hat-in-hand" culture that has infested our beloved fanbase. I don't remember this with our two previous coaches.

Consider the upcoming Vanderbilt/Kentucky game: After the game is over, either Joker Phillips (who Kentucky fans are about ready to execute) or James Franklin (who is only in his second season) will have more SEC wins than Derek Dooley.

So if CDD beats Franklin (again) this year he would be 2:0 vs him head to head. Since Franklin is such a genius coach those wins should be more than enough to save CDD's job (not the way I prefer to think about the reasons to keep or fire a coach but it seems to be the logic you suggest we should follow?). Also, how many of those Vandy wins are vs top 25 teams (all CDD loses are against top 25)?
