Settle down please. Obviously, things aren't always going to go smoothly with everything, but that doesn't mean that the earth is going to stop spinning because someone or people leave/leaves the program. If they didn't fit what we are trying to do then wish them the best and move on. It's not like you haven't done something or taken a job and then a few months later realized it wasn't what you wanted to be doing. Things will be fine, enjoy the ride and stay positive. :hi:

To say things aren't always gonna be smoothly is kinda premature man. This has been an ongoing thing since Kiff was hired. Beside the staff and the recruit class, it has been a S*** storm of negativity while being destroyed in the national media and the public eye.

WHY??????

I dont wanna hear conspiracy bs. I wanna know why they are trying to bury this program. Them I mean the media and others.

Well, ask yourself this....

Why did we decline over the past 5-7 years and not know what happened and nothing was ever explained to us??

I don't have all the answers on why our Athletic Department would start releasing all this crap they have, but Fulmer had just as many violations as Kiffin has in probably the same amount of time. Hell, look at what Oklahoma has done over the years....

Oklahoma Sooner Football Articles and Notes

University of Oklahoma defends NCAA secondary rules violations: According to the compliance report, Oklahoma's secondary violations of NCAA rules have increased "consistently" since 2002. "However, this trend should not be interpreted as negative, but rather reflects more effective and thorough monitoring," according to the April 1 report written by vice president and general counsel Anil Gollahalli. The report lists 11 total secondary violations for the 2002-03 and 2003-04 school years, but at least 30 for every year since and a high point of 46 in 2005-06. (Star-Telegram)

List of the violations in the report obtained by the Associated Press

  • providing too much money to a football player to return home for the holidays because of an incorrect address;
  • coach Bob Stoops and two assistants inadvertantly visiting a recruit's basketball game that had been rescheduled because of an ice storm;
  • Stoops mentioning at a news conference the name of a walk-on player who was technically still a prospect;
  • Stoops sending an impermissible text to a recruit when he thought he was sending an e-mail from his BlackBerry device;
  • assistant coach Jackie Shipp taking a recruit to a restaurant he thought was on campus;
  • And the program improperly providing meals and lodging worth $361.95 on a recruit's official visit because of a mixup regarding his legal guardian.
That's amazing number that they mention, but yet one violation is blown up by our fanbase that doesn't have a clue that this happens regularly in recruiting. Our coaches are tirelessly working to improve this team, let's let them do their job for a while before we start putting holes in the ship before they do themselves if things go bad.

I happen to think that odds are good you will be better this year than last year. The defense should be improved and while you have a number of problems on offense, its not like you are taking a step backwards at QB or the skill posiitons.

I figure that between the very good defense and the better coaching on offense, your problems on oline and elsewhere will be outweighed. Add in better conditioning an better coaching for special teams, and I think it likely you have a winning record and go to a bowl.

I still think UF wins our contest, and rather easily at that. But that's a function of the Gators being even better this year than last, not a fall off for UT. Not overall, anyway.

i'm so glad eric is here to keep us under control. Whew, what would we do without him and his constant Hubbs referrals?

While that may be true, didn't you say almost the exact same thing before the '07 season?

Honestly don't remember. I do remember saying that this year would be the Gators' year because the '06 departures on defense would have had the time to realize their potential. Indications are that I was right on the defensive part, anyway.

Next year will be a VERY interesting year for the Gators.

I remember. It was Tebow's first year to start and you believed they would be unstoppable and were destined for an undefeated national title. I'm not going to try to infer the same result couldn't happen this year, although some bigtime playmakers have moved on (of course a lot have remained). Your response to my original question is considerably more subdued than your opinion of the Gators from the year before last. That's good because folks should learn to temper their lofty expectations before they have a chance to see what happens when the team hits the field against other squads. That goes for fans of all schools and makes for a more enjoyable experience when your team attains or exceeds your dreams.

Objectively speaking, I can completely agree with you. It makes perfect sense.

But I would be lying if I said anything other than that I'll be VERY disappointed at anything less than at least an appearance in the national title game. And I'd be at least a little disappointed if they don't win it.

No doubt about that. We are probably three years away at best from competing with you guys.

UFs offense will definitely take a step back without Harvin.

I agree with you and will say you guys have a better team than you did in '07. Of course I hope y'all lose to the Volunteers in the Swamp (hope being the operative word).

Offensive line should be better, running game will be better (and different -- we ought to have some more North-South game this year), and Tebow is going to be given an opportunity to pass more, which I think is an underrated part of his game.

The loss of Harvin is big. But I think the offense overall might be better. I would agree it is going to be different.

Running more is what you argued last year and it was garbage then like it is now. UF handing it off will be a disaster.

Tebows passing is so underrated that I hope he throws every single down against us.

The offense will be worse and the defense the same.
