How in the world is UT's hockey team ranked #2 in the nation? That's cool if true, but it's also very strange.

And I don't care what sport it's in, I want to beat Florida. Even hockey.

I believe they're the #2 ranked club team in the confederation of teams they are grouped with. That's a long way from being the #2 team in the country.

#2 in the Region. We aren't NCAA, we are in the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA), along with about 350 other non-varsity programs. The ACHA uses a regional ranking system with the top 4 from each region making nationals.

Last season, we were in the North Region (because the commissioner never took a geography class) with teams from Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Indiana, and Pennsylvania, and finished 5th.

The 4 teams that went to Nationals ahead of us finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 5th in the nation. If we had been in the South Region last year, we would have been the #1 seed in our bracket.
