At least he has not bungled the QB position the way that Coach Kirby Smart has done at Georgia. He stuck with Fromm too long without realizing his limited ceiling and leaving Fields on the bench (costing GA a national championship). He never tailored the system to match Field's ability. Fields transferred and has become a top 5 QB draft prospect. If CKS had made the move to play Fields over Fromm, GA probably would have won a national championship, and they probably would be playing for one this year. This year, he kept playing Stetson Bennett for too long and cost them a few games when he had a star in JT Daniels sitting on the bench.

So just to summarize, CJP is not the only one going through QB issues. Even a program like GA has their issues with QB and one could argue that they have handled their situation worse that us.

I think I'd rather be criticized for not being in the national championship game than go 3-7 and being the laughing stock of college football.

He played the best option until Bailey was ready. Shrout and Bm are not even JG level qbs.
That's likely false. Pruitt committed to a strategy and stubbornly refused to change when it was obvious to everyone but him that it had failed. He is so sold on the idea that practice directly translates to game performance that he cannot tolerate the thought of a "gamer" or a "practice All American". The latter.... may ultimately cost him his job.

It is more likely he was forced to change.... both times. I suspect that BM and Shrout will both leave UT and have success elsewhere.

Maybe Shrout. BM is not a P5 qb

I suspect you are wrong but neither has had an adequate chance to prove it one way or the other. BM is more likely a P5 QB than JG was every going to be one.

Apparently LSU inquired about Maurer at some point. I would not be surprised to see him at somewhere like UK, Ole Miss, Ark, or Miss St since I think it is important to him to have his best chance to start. He could definitely go to and start at many ACC schools or someone like Indiana.

He's 6'4" with good athleticism, a quick release, good accuracy, and average to above average arm strength. If he does not play on a P5 roster it will be because he chose something else.

Georgia Tech or FSU could be two other possible stops for Maurer.

So we are 'atleasting' about a guy with NC appearance, 10 wins seasons and Top 5 recruiting class ??

Bullsh*t

There is nothing to back up this dumbass statement he keeps saying.

If anything the younger guys played better.
How many pick6s did they throw? Combined?

Using your logic, then they are actually better bc they scored more points against vandy than any other game

Dumb statements are dumb

Did OP compare a situation with a program playing for a National Championship to a program that got blown out by KY at home, lost to Ga State, and has made a tradition of double digits losses ??

The QB situation is not the same. Yes, GA didn't handle the QB situation well, but their situation is far and away better than the absolute turd-filled dumpster fire at TN.

And where did both coaches come from? They are both still trying to play old Alabama football. Even Saban saw that he had to change his offense but Pruitt and Smartt did not stay long enough to see that.

Comparisons to other coaches that also have QB position issues is not a valid excuse for how bad he screwed this entire season with his inept ability to evaluate QB play.

Are we talking about the same Fromm? SEC freshman of The year? Won an SECCG? Was 4 points from a Natty? Fromm took UGA to the highest levels of football. Could it have been 4 points better under Fields? Maybe, maybe not. They are/were 2 elite college QBs with totally different styles. Kirby had a GOOD problem to deal with. I’ll take that kind of bungling all day long if we get the same results.

Vol fans who continue to try and denigrate Smart look dumb. How many games does Smart win? How many East titles and bowl games? How many Georgia State level losses does Smart have? How many double digit blowout losses does he have?

It’s almost as bad as the TN fans arguing with a UGA fan and the online retort they have is 1980.
