About how many Tennessee fans were in the stadium? A friend of mine who attended the game guessed at around 20,000 or so.

It’s a shame the UT fans were so scattered.
As a solid group it would have looked even
more impressive.

The stadium only holds around 68,400 and I'd say almost 15%-20% were empty seats. There were thousands of seats left in the upper deck on the TN side where I sat and in the upper deck above the student section. We definitely did not have 20,000 fans in the stadium. I'd say there MIGHT have been 50,000 total fans there with about 10,000 or so being TN fans. That would be the max if I had to guess.

I have a hard time making a guess because I'm terrible at that, but there was a lot of orange there. The casino on Friday night might have well been in Knoxville with the sheer number of orange shirts and jerseys. I'm guessing 20K attending the game might be a little high as the stadium wasn't full, but I think we cleared 10K for sure.

My uneducated guess: Acrisure is 66K total. I'd say 10-15K seats were unused. We were probably 20-25% of the total crowd so let's go with 10-15K..

I wasn't there, but there is no possible way there were 20,000 Vol fans there unless they were disguised as yellow chairs. 8K-10K possibly, which is still impressive.

I was at the game and I would go with around 10,000. Other than the section behind our bench/band, Vol fans were scattered throughout the stadium so makes it hard to give a solid number. It was amazing to go anywhere in that city over the weekend and be surrounded with fellow Vol fans.

I noticed all of the empty seats on TV and thought to myself "if that was a top 25 matchup in any SEC stadium, the stadium would be packed."
Unfortunately, Heinz is simply too big for us and the casual fan interest drops off a bit when the Steelers start. Comes with the territory I guess.

I think those estimating 10,000 are vastly overestimating to the tune of about 5000. there was 1 vol fan for every 15 of Pitt on the entire south side of the stadium. even fewer than that in the west end zone.

I may not be perfect with estimations, but there was more than 5k. I was on the Pitt home side, and the visiting side had a lot of orange. I would guess we had 20-25% of the crowd of about 50,000 people.

The empty seats in the upper deck weren't that surprising to me but all of the empty seats scattered consistently throughout the lower level were especially since Pitt claims they sold all of their season tickets. Appears a lot of season ticket holders didn't bother to show up or try to sale their seats and just ate them instead.

I got lower level seats through their ticket office, so they don't sell enough season tickets to sell out that level. The Pitt season ticket holder next to my dad said the crowd was about right (or maybe a bit more) for a normal game. Only WV brings a big crowd because of the rivalry and location.

I had Pitt fans sitting all around me and at the beginning of the game they said "I am impressed with Tennessee fans actually taking over our city like WVU claimed they would."
I heard very similar statements all weekend.

That and 'are you here for the game?' that made us laugh.

5-10k Tennessee fans probably and likely on the lower-end of that...I was in the upper-deck and I thought both schools numbers looked low

I'm guessing 20k empty seats...there was ALOT

Official attendance was 59,785, but I would estimate no more than 10,000 Vols in attendance. We were loud, but definitely not 20,000. I attached some pictures to show pre and post of the area around the band and then the opposite end zone with no Vols.65C345C9-BFFA-4AA9-9B5B-B7DBE637DD80.jpeg54F82302-4040-4B0E-9F8F-6E7CFD2835FA.jpeg24E9AF60-6B4E-4677-BD19-986A5749BBAC.jpeg

Scattered all about stadium. I was there and I'd guess between 12-15k. But I wouldn't be surprised if there were more. I saw Orange all over the city for a few days. Hell there may have been 5,000 UT fans at the Pirates game Friday night no kidding

The Alumni Office and the Pittsburgh area Alumni Chapter arranged a nice riverboat cruise before the game and we were serenaded by the band after we returned. Smokey (real and costumed) and the cheerleaders were also there.

The cruise was a great way to start the day! Got some great pictures of my wife with Smokey after it was over, easily the highlight of the trip for her.
