When John Brice of 247 had the opportunity to ask CBJ about the timeout with 5 seconds remaining on the game clock.

“I just wanted it for our kids and our fans,” Jones said. “I just wanted to let everyone hear Neyland Stadium.”

Appreciated. :hi:

McIlWeenie set it up last year, when he proclaimed, "We don't lose to Tennessee!"

Yes, he was a first year coach at a school with a fan base unfamiliar with him, and his team had just escaped with their first SEC victory of the season, BUT, you just don't go there.

Welcome to Neyland, Jim... And, for the record, you're no Jim Kirk. Put some socks on.

From the look on his face when he called it, it really seemed like he was saying "Hey Swamp Donkey! WJWYFA !!! Quack quack!"

And from his reply to Brice that would appear to have been exactly what it was! Awesome.

You could see coach Jones beaming with a huge grin and held up time out signal for like ten yards.

I think he just wanted to show the world a Power T for as long as he could. I loved every second of it.

Also, it was difficult to catch what he said because of crowd noise and commentators, but I think Butch and the team laid out their post-game celebration plans in that huddle. I could make out something like "we're all going to sprint over to the student section." At least that was the gist I got. I think it could have been part of a plan to keep fans from storming the field.

Volnation would've looked weak to storm the field vs these gators. Staying in the stands and screaming for 20+ minutes, made us the envy of programs across this nation. As usual, well played Butch, well played.

I did not see the original CBS broadcast. But I heard That CBS carried the celebration and Gary and Vern did very little talking to distract from the scene. Would love to hear the feedback from those who saw the telecast and how that looked on TV.

It was amazing! Verne and Gary just kept their mouths shut and let the camera's show the students and players celebrating. I literally got chills. UGH so good!!:pepper::yahoo:

They also panned around and showed the stadium a lot of the screaming fans. Hearing rocky top echoing around the stadium on tv made me regret not being able to go.

Kinda like

A narcotic so amazing, it would never be released

Utopia

A virtual unbearable weight lifted from over a 100,000 people at once

All of this gift wrapped in the ever so soothing look of frustration and disbelief of gators.

Kinda like that.

AWESOME. It was the best feeling as a Vol for quite some time. It was truly an eye damper, you could just tell from the players who have been here for the last 3 and 4 years how much it meant to them. AWESOME.

What must also be noted is that blue was missing from Neyland during the celebration, but the orange and white remained almost completely intact. Almost no one left the scene for at least 15 minutes.

PS. This is Neyland we're talking about. 15 minutes! That's a world record!

I was one of those who said losing for Florida was not the end of the world. I will tell you though that from mid way through the 3rd quarter to the end of the game and the moments that followed that it became apparent that winning this game was so needed for the players, coaches and fans. It was like a burden that has been weighing on everyone's shoulders for way too long was lifted away.

I don't know what the rest of the season holds - I'm hoping for and still expecting a great season - but this game and how it was won will be remembered for a very long time.

I was very proud. They also kept showing good ole Jim, and the look on his face was priceless! I hope someone makes it a meme.

There in the first half I kept thinking it would never happen! I've been asking myself through the first three games what in the world was this team doing during the summer? they just did not look like the same team. But they showed up and showed out in the second half!

I was at the game and taped it at home. I stayed for the whole post game celebration but watching it on t.v. last night really made it more special. The CBS coverage was exceptional. It was really like having a 15-minute advertisement for UT. The family aspect of Butch and his son, the comradery of the players. The swaying of the team and the fans, arms around shoulders, to the Tennessee Waltz which Verne incorrectly said was the Alma Mater. If any recruits were watching it had to make an impact.

What was the Butch and Son element?

What was the Butch and Son element?

Coach Jones and his son (who Verne and Gary said was the backup holder on the team) hugged. A bunch of players kept coming up to Coach and hugged him as well. It really was like watching a VFL Film production. Great advertising for the program

Yup, and the first thing you hear from some of them is "Love you, coach"
