As the end of this dismal season approaches, their appears to be really only one thing major to play for: The Streak over Kentucky.

Do you think it would be a fitting end to Fulmer's final legacy if he was the coach who let Kentucky end this streak?

I for one was one of the fans wanting a change. Fulmer may be a decent, good guy, but his coaching (his job!) was not being performed properly. However, I am a Tennessee Fan first and foremost. I want the streak to continue, although i fear it will end.

But I know some on here want what bad can happen to Fulmer to actually happen.

Will he be remembered more for the National Championship 10 years ago or for being the one who ended this ridiculously long streak? He already has the distinction of letting Vandy end theirs.

Just curious of your thoughts....

Either way it goes, it won't really hurt or help the program. But, as a fan, I hope we kill them....as long as that doesn't give the boosters the ammo they need to try to ensure as little change at the assistants level as possible. As soon as we start hanging restrictions on who stays and who goes, EVERY good candidate walks away, IMO.

I really am curious to watch the rest of the year. The season blows, but I want to see a couple things...
1) Fulmer go out with style and class
2) Eric Berry to play on offense to any extent.
3) BJ Coleman to get a shot at QB
4) More playing time from other RB's other than Foster/Hardesty.

well we can beat i think we can slide through KY with a win IF:
Our defense holds firm
Its not on the field 90% of time
Our offensive line doesnt block like the French maginot line blocked the Germans
Our QBs can hit the broad side of a barn with a pass

Everything must come to an end, and sadly I feel this will too this year. I hope and pray it doesn't, but I feel after seeing the way we played against Wyoming, that the team has given up.

We've got bigger problems than the UK win streak.

The best part about that game is that it is the last one this season.

We so badly need to turn the page on '08.

I see Fulmer being remembered for all his accomplishments, but not in the near future. As far as the streak...not a big deal. You have to think that he has the majority of the wins in this streak. We need to focus on the future and not a game that will basically mean nothing because all hope is lost.

I personally want us to win, but it is seeming less likely every week. We are becoming worse every week...that is not suppose to happen

You're wasting your time looking for Fulmerites. They haven't been around since the end of the Wyoming game. Most of them have either changed their tune, or come back under a different nick, and singing a different song. Funny how lots of "new" posters showed up here the last week or so.

OTOH, if we hire Mike Leach, and he ends up being a bust, we can refer to the new Fulmerites as "Leaches".

Go Vols.

I agree, I hope we win, but they're going to beat us again sometime so this is probably as good a time as any. It won't make me think less of Fulmer, I think Clawson was just a disaster of a hire.

They also can play for not being the team that has lost more games in a season than any other in 110 years of Tennessee football...

We actually have 2 things to play for:

1) Continuing the streak over Kentucky. Watching Kentucky fans cry last year when they had us on the ropes and still didn't win was great; this year watching the worst UT team in forever STILL beat Kentucky will be the thrill of the season (not saying much but..)

2) Helping to continue to ruin Vandy's season. Vandy has gone from 5-0 to down the toliet, and since they probably won't get win #6 at Kentucky (just guessing since they are in freefall), then they'll see win #6 at home versus against again... the worst Tennessee team in forever. They already went nuts beating the previous worst team in forever (2005). I think us keeping them from that precious win #6 AND like Kentucky rubbing it in that they couldn't even beat THIS UT team would be great. Sure they'll still have one more shot at win #6 at Wake Forest the next week, but would anyone honestly think they'd do it?
