Everyone wants to throw excuses about the talent or the new start and all that bs. Butch Jones is the man to lead us going forward but youve got to understand. Everyone also wants to throw out poor execution and blame it on the staff. I guess most of you have never played football, a coach can teach you until he is blue in the face but its up to the player to execute. These guys are not 7 year old recreation players, these guys have been playing for a long time now and its up to them to execute plays. A coach does not strap on the pads and a coach doesnt teach the defense to not wrap up or a qb to just throw the ball wherever. Sorry to bust some bubbles around here but after all the teaching and film review is done, its up to the PLAYERS TO EXECUTE!!! I am not saying the players arent talented but they have got to want it. The qbs have to audible out when the box is stacked instead of just handing it off, the defense has to read plays better and get more aggressive. The rest of the year is up to them.

I've been thinking about this and some fans just can't accept that we are not that good..so they have to blame it on coaches because they are reluctant to blame the kids..other than the taste of losing..I actually feel a little more optimistic and thought we competed and kept the fight up at Florida

no no no OP has it all wrong

If Butch was coaching well, we wouldn't have had so many dropped passes and overthrown routes this year.

A lot of fans are still living in 1998 and can't seem to realize that a 7-5 season would be outstanding right now. Also everyone thinks our QB has to be Peyton Manning and if they aren't then the next one on the depth chart must be.

Exactly. I remember the days when 7-4 brought up discussion of firing Fulmer because that was terrible..

After the daffy ducks and the gators 7-5 doesn't look bad, we should be way better in 2016.

Despite the negavol taunts I'm sure will be thrown my way, allow me to point out a flaw in your arguement. While it is up to the players to execute, it is up to the coach who plays in the game, and for how long they play. Poor execution should equate to limited playing time.

That was the good ol days. Back then if we didn't beat vandy & kentucky by atleast 40 people was raising hell. And if we lost more than 2sec games the season was considered a very bad one. What I would give just to be 500 in the sec now man how times have changed. LOL!. GO VOLS!

When I was in the Air Force I remember bragging to a Gaturd about 22 years of no losing seasons and 7-4 being as bad as it gets..then 2005 came..

Back in those days, many blamed the loses on the coach. Not so much since then. It's all been on the kids. How dare any Vol fan slam our kids.

So what would you have done different Coach?

Reporter "How do yo feel about your player's execution?"

NFL coach who's name escapes me "I'm all for it."

Good post! The only thing I would add is the obvious ... Not enough depth and talent. You could also add this is an entirely new system and players, in their defense, need time to thoroughly learn the system. CBJ will lead us back to the top.

You play, to win, the game! Truth! The reality is however that our team isn't talented enough for top tier SEC play, but they are getting better. After all is said and done we may not have improvement record wise this year, but we have a good coach that is working hard at getting us back to where we want to be. Butch is going to win a lot of games here, we just have to be patient.
