For sake of argument, let's say Fulmer IS retained after finishing 7-5...

If this happens, Volnation is stuck with him for at least 3 more years while he chases the general. It is almost inevitable that he will do as good or better overall next season, and there will NEVER be a more opportune time to move him out than now. This is the watershed moment for the UT program. Should be interesting to watch it play out.

i really think he's gone at the end of the year. there's been too many rumors from too many sources tonight.

It's a done deal. There is no need to speculate about Fulmer being here after this year. We should move on to which assistants will remain (if any) and who the new HC choices are.

:no:I agree 100%. If we win this weekend in Columbia we will go 7-5 and you hit the nail on the head he will be with us at least 2-3 more years.

I think 7-5 gives him a chance to stay but not a guarantee. I just don't see us winning out though anyway.

He can go 7-5 and win a bowl game and he is still done. Actually the new HC might come in and coach the bowl game. No way Fulmer is here next year. If it wasn't already decided before the Alabama game, which it might have been, that one sealed the deal. I don't think it was the loss as much as it was the ticket holders that did not show up for the biggest rivalry game of the year, but instead sold their tickets to Alabama fans. That definitely sent a message. That in no way looked good for Hamilton or our University, especially on national television. It was a complete embarrassment. Fulmer will not be the HC next year.

I do agree with the TC though....if he is retained, he'll be here for at least 2 more seasons. Next year's schedule is on paper at least much easier. 3 of the 4 OOC opponents are cubcakes (Western Kentucky, Ohio, and Memphis), with UCLA being the 4th (and SHOULD be a W as well). All of them are at home. We'll likely lose the 3 big ones (Georgia, Alabama, Florida), and that leaves Auburn, Vandy, South Carolina, at Ole Miss, and at Kentucky. 8 homes games, 4 road games. That schedule is almost a guranteed 8-4/9-3 barring any surprise teams.

So if Fulmer is kept and UT goes 8-4/9-3 next season, then yeah, he'll be here a while.

I expect to hear the announcement at any time that Fulmer is stepping down at the end of the year.

Wait for it.....

We do have a small chance against SC, and if we do beat them, I don't see us losing the rest of the year, until a possible bowl game.

Vandy has fallen on their faces lately.

If he comes back, he better clean house and bring in a new group of assistant coaches, with a whole new scheme on O and D. This stuff he runs now doesn't work.
