For anyone that ever though Donte Stallworth was ditching the Vols...

If you're suggesting he emphasize "the" Ohio State-style, I'd prefer he just mention his high school.

 why can't he say THE University of Tennessee ?

The NFL has some sort of policy that you can't say a school unless you have a degree from there. Apparently Stallworth has not completed a degree from UT.

That is correct. I am looking for a link to back it up.

Is that a fact or sarcasm ?

That is what I understand. I don't know it as a "fact," but I am not being sarcastic. I have been told there is such a rule and that is why some players do not say their university but rather their high school.

It isn't enforced particularly harshly then, because i know of a large amount of players who left early who still say their college.

Vince Young is one of them.

It may be that VY can get away with saying "Texas" because he is from Texas. Houston, Texas. Just throwing that out there.

No one is going to confuse UTK with UT-Martin or UT-Chattanooga. When you say "Tennessee" in reference to football, it's assumed you mean the UT-Knoxville unless you say otherwise.

Believe it or not, people do confuse Ohio State and Ohio University. Ohio University is actually older than Ohio State.

But Stallworth doesn't even say Tennessee.

Does it matter?
Stallworth is a cool cat. I met him his Senior year in Knoxville. Super friendly dude! Pretty goofy guy if you ask me, and by that I mean humorous

No one who watches more than a little football compares OSU with OU.
