There is a reason we were picked to go 5-7 or 6-6 and anyone with a pulse saw the issues coming on the Oline.

ESPN ranked UT at 13th in the conference on the Oline back in June. Before Blair was a bust and before a walkon tore an ACL.

Deal with it, this problem is here to stay and really there isn't anything that can be done about it this year.

SEC football position rankings 2014: Offensive line - ESPN

13. Tennessee: The Vols are faced with having to replace all five starters. Fortunately for them, junior Marcus Jackson redshirted last season and provides some experience at guard. They need junior college transfer Dontavius Blair to make an immediate impact at left tackle, and true freshman Coleman Thomas may end up being the starter at right tackle.

The fact that we exceeded expectations at OK and UGA people set new expectations for this team. But, the fact of the matter is, this is the same team. We are par for the course and it was predicted by many people.

Last week we were treated to threads wondering if Butch would bolt for Michigan, this week we have threads wondering if He is a worse coach than Dooley. We have some true psychopaths on VN.

Maybe some the emotional not-so-learned Vol naysayers and coach haters will read this and think about it.

Pretty much sums it up

My vote:
Schizophrenia (/ˌskɪtsɵˈfrɛniə/ or /ˌskɪtsɵˈfriːniə/) is a mental disorder often characterized by abnormal social behavior and failure to recognize what is real. Common symptoms include false beliefs, unclear or confused thinking, auditory hallucinations, reduced social engagement and emotional expression, and inactivity.

I drove from eastern NC to the game streaming sports talk the entire time. I didn't sleep Friday night in anticipation for the game and we got to the strip around 8am. As the team was warming up on the field I handed my little brother the binoculars and told him to look at the Oline. They don't pass the "eye test" except for Jackson and the others look like boys. They are boys and it shows on the field. Only weights and time can change that.

The improvement on defense is incredible and they would be even better with some help from the offense.

Only a few problems:

1. both UGA and Okie were on the road.
2. Both UGA and Okie are far better than the Gators
3. The game with FL was in a packed house Neyland!!

We did know there were issues with this o line going in, what is frustrating is that they seemed to have taken a huge step backword post GA. I sincerely hope this is a result of that rollercoaster game and not a trend. This o line does not have the talent, experience or strength to compete at in the SEC. We are 2 to 3 years away from a good o line if we can.keep this years class together.

Our qb next year better be mobile.

I am backing this staff and sincerely hope they get it done. If we miss a bowl Butch needs to weigh the effects of possibly losing an o line recruit or two and making a change in position coach or staying the course.

Could be a trend for the rest of the year. We don't know. Every game adds to the library of game film competitors have to evaluate the strengths and WEAKNESS in our line. It is much easier for a defense to exploit a weakness than it is for a teenager to learn advanced footwork techniques and gain quickness to limit the weakness.

Superior coaching and superior mental Wits makes a good lineman , offense or defense, weakness cannot be tolerated either, along with bad stamina. If our linemen are showing deterioration they will study and work harder every day to become better athletes. This offensive line at UT Is building.
Now the first brick column I built was horrendous, but by the end of the summer I figured it out , with the help of experienced co workers ,and different situations made it difficult . But I eventually reaped the reward .
Brick by brick.
As long as our Team doesn't give up and continues to put forth effort being guided by our HC. I know our team will make it .

Florida has grown men on the line too. Fowler will play on Sunday

I think this is what most people seem to forget. Florida may have a horrendous offense, but their defensive front seven are pretty darn good. TN, I think still goes 6-6 and make a bowl.

Haven't you learned yet? Facts don't matter. They are irrelevant. All this is just excuses for losing. To this fan base everything is an excuse and not fact.

Yep, and folks will continue to pick us to finish near the bottom of the SEC until our coach shows that he can do any better. Why does no one understand that projections take into account both the players and the coaches? Good coaches exceed their expectations and make new ones. Mediocre coaches come to UT where the sycophants praise them for meeting the most meager of expectations year after year.

Ok professor then offer up a solution. What should happen? So according to you we have a mediocre coaching staff yes? Fine. Then please tell us what to do. What coaches should we go after? Were do we get the money from? Let's hear something constructive instead of your usual pathetic, UT hating diatribe.

For all who have forgotten, we started three freshmen and returned only one starter on the offensive line in 2010, but allowed fewer sacks all season than this group has in five. We need two or three years just to rebuild an offensive line.
