Quite obvious that Lawless academic problems are enough that UT won't admit him thus the release. RTI said there was enough evidence on Thaxton to prove his guilt and so he is gone. We move on.

Once Tennessee took Brandon Kennedy as a grad transfer, they didn't have room for him under the 25 new counters in a calendar year rule (that's different than the 25 signee rule), so this was only a matter of time.
