I keep seeing people essentially trying to shame posters on here with phrases like "I bet at the beginning all you wanted was a win over Florida".

What folks don't look at is the reason we want that win over Florida means we are back, we're top of the east and likely headed to the SECCG. That didn't happen. People are angry and rightfully so. The idea of beating the top teams is to then become the top team. At this point the UF win looks more like a lucky pickup than a declaration of current and future dominance.

tldr: There's no point in beating top teams if your lose to USCjr.

I agree, but I think the Sunshine Pumpers, Butch Apologists, and PosiVols are going to try to kill you.

I wouldn't agree that theres no point in it. I do think it puts it into a different context.

At this point its not, "we beat UF and UGA, we are back!" Its more like "we started over the hump and run into a light pole before we got to the top."

I'm not saying there is no reason to be disappointed or that Butch has done a good job. I'm just saying that it's not catastrophic or worthy of firing him. Of course, IMO, whether or not someone should be fired must always consider who we can likely replace him with. This year, probably not with someone better. We need to make it clear (he probably already understands this) that he needs to make significant changes on offense. I think he will. That's the end of it for me, although another regular season loss this year would change everything.

in most cases, teams capable of beating GA and FL in the same year, have no business losing to USCe. it's a difficult pill to swallow, seeing as you accomplish something that hasn't been done in a long time, only to follow it up with something we've seen too much of the last decade.

it doesn't say much about how this program will handle success and expectations if you can do one (beat FL/GA), but still are perfectly capable of doing the other (losing to a USCe type)......esepcially after a bye, and getting a few healthy bodies back.

that and just the way we lost...that was a bad team we lost to, and we played not only down to their level, but below it.

Right now, we are 3rd

Right now, we are watching over the last 4 eggs in the dozen, hoping the rest hatch

Still not true - we still play UK and if we win out, that means we beat them and are 2nd.

You said the "best" the team can do this year NOT where they are now.

It's hard to put this season into understandable words because the team hasn't been full strength. And with all this going on with Hurd and seeming to be a cancer somewhere in the locker room. Team chemistry just doesn't seem to be there. At the beginning of the season if I had to choose a 10-3 season with wins over Florida and Georgia I would have said heck yeah. With all the preseason hype. Being ranked in the top 10. We should realistically be 7-1. But we could very well be 2-6 with losses to Appalachian State, Georgia, and Florida if not for one second half of the guys playing the best 2 quarters of the year. This season is nothing going more than what is and why nots. Then there's the whole coaching situation. There just doesn't seem to be any innovation n our coaches to find ways to get recievers open. Or get the oline to block consistently. Will one more year make a difference? Will recruiting get better? Will coaching changes be made? Will the bandwagon fans jump off before seasons end? Not sure we as fans can or have the right to answer these questions. But this fan knows one thing for certain. We have a very passionate an base. And we are closer to being the top east team today than we were 5 years ago.

Ending the streak against Florida was nice.. UGA is down, a win over them was kind of expected. No one thought we'd need a miracle hailmary to win though. This team has been living on the edge all season. 3 losses in a row just kind of shows the luck finally ran out.. You can't play like that and it not catch up to you at some point..

Why.. Is the more puzzling question.. Injuries? Dobbs? Coaching? Oline.. Probably all of it. I'll be real surprised if they pull it together and win out. There are too many issues to fix.
