Florida Lost Its OC

Thanks to Lane Kiffin they won't......UT is always a game they get up for because of the battle for the east. Lose that and you are essentially 2 losses behind because of the head to head tiebreaker.

You make a good point tng8r. However, I think the thought Florida is going to lay the smack down on us just because Kiffin ran his mouth is a little overrated. Florida stomped us the last two years and will this year if given the opportunity, regardless of what Kiffin said.

Did you see the recent CBS sportsline article by Dennis Dodd. He wrote an article that said Kiffin knows exactly what he is doing, and that there is no such thing as bad publicity. He also told about someone showing Kiffin a cell phone pic of the sign that has been put up in the gators football complex quoting Kiffins press conference comments about beating Florida next year. Here is what Kiffin had to say.

Glancing at the phone picture, the coach smiled and said, "Beautiful. Awesome. Wonderful. They even put our logo on it. Free advertising and we didn't have to pay for it."

Dodd said, "Florida has made his day because Florida has taken the bait."

I can assure you, our coaching staff and players are well aware of this and the T-Shirts made up at he Gainesville sports shop with a message to Kiffin. I personally think this could backfire and come back and bite the gators in the butt. JMO, but it is definitely possible.

Exactly! First year with a new coach. Look at how much they improved in just one year. All I am going to say, is the Gators better not overlook the Vols and this new coaching staff.

The difference is that Ole Miss was good last year and you weren't. Coaching was a minimal part of that. They were just a lot better football team.

Kiffin is not smart enough to have planned this out. He got carried away in his enthusiasm that day, pure and simple. He's picked up the ball of what the apologists have thrown out there, which is the no such thing as bad publicity mantra.

However, I agree with you that the Kiffin comments aren't why UT will likely get solidly beaten this year. It will be because Florida is a better team. Does UT have a chance? Sure. Everyone has a chance. But its a real longshot.

In the meantime, let's not give Kiffin too much credit for this nonsense of actually planning to falsely accuse Meyer of cheating. He is now making the best of a bad situation, but let's not pretend it was premeditated.

it just seems to be setting up very well. We had a great D last year and were smashed by harvin. Harvin is now gone, so is the OC, and THE monte kiffin has come in to manage the already stellar D. We are finally going to pay some attention to special teams, and by that I mean Gran. All im saying is that I am going to make my first trip to gainsville somewhat optimistic.

and not to mention the fire that has returned to our players, program, and fans. Hard work and a positive change in heart and mind go a very long way. Kiffin could very well be bringing us back from mediocrity. At least I can feel it.

My fear is that our wins will not meet everyones high hopes. The team has talent, real talent but this is the first year they have been pushed since stepping on campus. Everything is new; not just the systems but learning how to study, learning true work ethics and be winners. On paper we should win 7 or 8 games but games like Ole Miss are no longer sure fire wins. Ole Miss could easily win the West and compete for a BCS game.
As for florida, as much as I hate to say this they are good. I think the only thing that holds them back from another shot at a national title is they don't have a very sexy schedule. Because of this, they are going to lay the smackdown on every team that steps on the field.
I am fired up with the new attitude of the players and coaching staff but they will need a little time to get a few key positions filled. This year will be great because you will be able to wake up on Saturday morning knowing the coaching staff and the players are prepared to win but I think next year we will see a big turn and CLK will have us in the SEC title game by year 3.

What coach brought all that talent to Ole Miss?

Here's a hint, he coaches the defensive line at Tennessee now.

And what was Mississippi's record in 2007 before they were "damn good" last year?

Here's another question: What did Spurrier talking trash about UT all those years change how hard UT played or how many of those games they won?

Answer: It did nothing.

With the exception of FSU, it always has been. Thing is, to pay for all of our facilities, we can't afford to do a home-and-home with anyone besides FSU and no decent teams will just come to the Swamp once every six years.

That is a weak... very weak cop out. Raise ticket prices. Raise concession prices. Raise royalties. There are numerous ways to recoup that revenue.

You all have just chosen the coward's way out.

He made a mistake with the rule but he's been prodding Meyer and Saban virtually from the start.

I hope Meyer underestimates the guy too.

Regardless, if he were afraid of Meyer... he wouldn't have made the comments at all. He did EXACTLY what he should have done to get under the skin of a narcissist.
However, I agree with you that the Kiffin comments aren't why UT will likely get solidly beaten this year. It will be because Florida is a better team. Does UT have a chance? Sure. Everyone has a chance. But its a real longshot.
The fact is that Meyer will think he's playing for a NC and will beat everyone badly if he can. He knows that could be the tie breaker between 3 teams with equal records.

Another motive is that neither he nor any of the other SEC coaches want to let CLK "grow up". Kill him while he's young and avoid letting his staff really get their recruiting going.

In the meantime, let's not give Kiffin too much credit for this nonsense of actually planning to falsely accuse Meyer of cheating.
I don't personally think that was his intent. I think for whatever reason he believed it was a violation. It would have come off much better if he'd just said Meyer kept calling like a jealous 15 year old girlfriend... would have been accurate and played even better with fans, players, and recruits.

He is now making the best of a bad situation, but let's not pretend it was premeditated.
And what bad situation would that be? Virtually every '10 recruit they've inquired about is giving them a look. The fans are pumped. The players are working their tails off.... and Meyer whined to Slive like a little girl. I'm not exactly sure what "bad" you are talking about.

It isn't setting up that well and will take a herculean effort plus some breaks to win. UF will have an incredible defense led by a guy I really like, Strong... in spite of his coaching for the team I hate the most.

Meyer has talent of his own and any effect that Mullins leaving might have won't be felt this year. Harvin was great and that could hurt but UF has enough talent to take up the slack. If they have any issues on O it will be with the OL.

If that's true then the equation needs to be adjusted. NO TEAM that schedules an FCS school should have a top 10 SOS.

FTR, it was a total anomaly that UF played another credible program (Miami) much less playing a team thought by some to be credible (Hawaii) in the same season. Try again.
