Florida Looks Beatable

“Florida looks beatable” by AUB, GA, LSU, maybe SCAR and possibly MIZZ. Not by us this Sat or anyone else on their schedule realistically.

I bleed big orange and know FL is a huge SEC rivalry game and hope springs eternal and yada yada etc. And I won’t go over all our shortcomings anymore except to say that GA ST designed the blueprint on how to shut us down and gas our D and we’ve shown nothing in 3 games to answer that.

I just hope FL makes a ton of mistakes and we can find a way to stay in it late like KY did before they folded.

I dont want to jinx it, but if we make even more strides next week like we did today.....I think Florida is beatable (not saying we win), but I think we will could put ourselves in a good place going into the late 4th quarter.

Pump the brakes there, Mario...UT hasn't beaten UF in Gainesville since Sherman spent the night at the Savannah Hilton...or so it seems.

This UT team...the one that will travel to Gainesville...is 1-2. They lost at home to Georgia State (Georgia State...say that again out loud); lost at home to a middle of the FBS pack BYU; and then won at home against an FCS team.

Not the stuff that John Ward highlight videos are made of. This is essentially Year 1 for Coach Pruitt and staff, and from what I've seen so far, he's going to need this year and maybe next just to get to the point where UT is competitive in the SEC.

He's got the resume'; he's got the staff; and he's getting the recruits. But good cornbread takes time. I think we finally have a winner at HC. But we have to give him time to get the roster full of his recruits, and the system fully in place. Most likely, it's 2021 before we finally see what Coach Pruitt can or can't do.

I know, sucks to have to wait to win. I feel your pain. It took what, 10 years (post-Fulmer) to sink to this level, and fact is the Good Ship UT was foundering at that point anyway. Not gonna fix that in 1 year, or 2, or probably 3. If you think you have the right guy, and clearly AD / Coach Fulmer does, then you tighten your chin strap and play the long game.

Meanwhile...back at the ranch...get used to losing to the likes of UF, UGA, and Bama until we can fight at that weight class. There will be an upset here and there, and a heartbreaker as well, but this is a long-term rebuild. I'd love to be wrong, but UF is simply a better team right now, and they win at home. Maybe next year we can stun them in Knoxville.

Go Vols.

That has little to do with claiming that past games dictate future results with different players and entire staffs at play. That is irrational superstition.

The fact of the matter is that Florida looked beatable. The problem is that we are young and inexperienced, lagging behind Florida in speed, strength and experience. It's ridiculous to expect a win Saturday.

Notice the use of current facts in that analysis, and the lack of superstition parading as logic.

You can call it superstition if you want. I'm going to call it a losing mentality until proven otherwise. The fact that we can find a way to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory says there is a mental block with the Tennessee program that transcends everything regardless of who the coaches and players are. We will lose to Florida, Alabama and Georgia. That's the trend. Looking at statistics or thinking we have some kind of talent isn't going to change that. I want for the team to prove otherwise but until then the fact is that's what we are, losers.

Tennessee hasn’t been good for 14 years
I was just using 10 years as the measuring stick to feel better about everything. Seems to me the last time we were truly good was 1998 and it's been all downhill since then.

I love our "fans". We should just forfeit the season. Might as well set 1-11 as our new worst season. Saves money for all and we don't have to worry about any injuries before the end of the season. When does basketball start?

That's not at all what I am saying. I'm just tired of 20 years of losing. And when we have a nice little win here and there all of a sudden some fans seem to think we are back. Or in this case Florida didnt look so great against Kentucky, who lost, so they think after our recent performance that we're going to beat a team that has far more talent, recent success and historically is successful against us. It's laughable. We need to establish some winning ways. A blowout win over UTC and Florida having a lackluster WIN over Kentucky does not necessarily equate into Florida being beatable when it comes to Tennessee. I must see this win....

Absolutely zero reason to lose this game listening to the pumpers, so put your confidence ITT and answer.

Backup QB, UF is overrated and we are more talented, we beat UTC easily and are the most improved team in the nation from Week 1.
When you post two -L- in a row, then win one, you have statistically made a HUGE improvement, but if that huge improvement means you can now beat UTC, what have you accomplished???

Listen I want them to win just as bad as everyone else does, but Unless this team magically turns into LSU, then there’s no way in hell they win Saturday.

Sorry but someone had to say it.

It's not going to take someone as good as LSU to win Saturday.

Pruitt talked about how we beat UK. Said the defense put 9 in the box to stop the run and forced them to beat us passing b/c their QB was a bad passer. Pruitt even said there were a lot of plays where UK WRs were wide open deep but the QB couldn’t hit them. Said receivers were also open deep against Mizzou, Vandy, UF, Bama, etc. but their QBs were good enough to hit them.

Sawyer Smith will be good enough, hopefully he's healthy by then too.
