ok, not counting on turnover ratio or penalties, here's how i see it breaking down this Saturday:

Defense:
1. our LB's. must be very disciplined this weekend. being out of position against USM is one thing. being out of position against FL's offensive speed is another. the misdirection of that offense could cause the lb's fits. i think how we do defensively in large part depends on this unit. is this the week we break out some 3-4 possibly, maybe a wrinkle that FL hasn't seen?
2. defensive backs. if they lead the team in tackles, i'll show you a TN loss. otherwise, i dont' think they have to be superstars back there, but they do need to make good decisions and not get biting on play action and reverses.
3. Defensive line. would like to thin they can generate a pass rush, but in liew of that, what they really need to do is allow the LB's to make plays. take up blockers.
4.. def. scheme. as johnny would say: attack, attack, attack. dont' wait and see. be aggressive. if we spend the 1st qtr "figuing out" what they are doing....not good.

Offesnvily:
1. take advantage of the young D. run right at them. they haven't been tested up front and the way our O line seems to be playing, i'm hoping to see us come out and really pound it at them and beat them up for a 2nd half surge.
2. take some shots. Erik Ainge is having a great year so far and has proven to make good decisions with the ball. no need to get ultra fancy, but the play action could be great in this game. I expect EA to have a very good game.
3. chris brown. just keep doing what you're doing.
4. WR's. possession or not, picking up 3rd downs, and making 2nd down catches will be important. if you can break a few tackles, that'd be great too. make the catch. move the chains.
5. i want to see some more of creer and coker. these two have speed to break plays. they need to be utilized. i'm wondering if this is the game we finally see Coker lined up in the slot?
6. no more "outhinking" ourselves. stick to the game plan and execute it. if we're going to get cute, let it not look like a reaction play, but a dictation play. like we're already up and we're going for the throat?
7. ball control. TOP could play a factor here. if we have a decided advantage here, we can win this game.
8. recalling the 2000 game: can't settle for fg's. must get in the endzone when opportunities arrise.

Kicking game:
FL can't be allowed to start outside their 30 the majority of the night. coverage teams must play like they did in the 2nd half of the USM game. but if the coverage team that played against Cal shows up, could be a long night.

lastly...wondering about the tendinitis PH has in his foot and knee...how will that affect him? and will caldwell play, or be effective? two things to keep an eye on for TN fans. if either player is ineffective, that immediately gives us an advantage in this game.

bottom line:
we still don't know all that much about FL. i know we'd like to think we do, but the reality is, Troy and WKU just don't provide the same kind of tape study FL will have after watching the Cal and USM tape. i expect FL to be more prepared for TN than TN is prepared for FL. FL's offensive speed is not matched by our defense's penchant for being out of position at times.

FL's defense though has not been tested at all, and i expect us to be able to put up points against them.

home feild advantage goes to FL. Coaching advantage goes to FL. based on those two things, and what we already know about our D, i give the edge to FL in a high scoring game, where both teams show they have issues. I think we'll need FL to turn the ball over or kill drives to give us extra possesions for us to win this game. and i'd be fine with that.

ok, rip away......

We really need to have our RB's out gain their ground game by a min. of 80 yards.
That has always been the key to this rivalry, and considering as of now, despite the level of competition, they are outgaining us by almost 75 yards a game. Not good news coming into the game

Not bad news either when you consider who they have played....we got 125 yards out of AF on a defense that had 9 returning starters from last year...that IS good news coming into the game.

Also consider that half of their 2nd leading rusher is Tebow in both yards and carries and touchdowns. I don't foresee him pulling that well against us

Caldwell is out, but don't forget everyone else. Louis Murphy is an up and coming star, we all saw how Cornelius Ingram did in the BCS title game, PH will be fine, Riley Cooper has incredible speed even though he looks slow. Also, don't forget the names of Tate Casey, Jarred Fayson, David Nelson and Justin Williams. We are pretty stacked at WR.

We have the Urban Myer Show aired down here tomorrow night in Gainesville. Those of us that get it here will report to the board tomorrow and Wednesday morning what Urban says about the injuries. Those on campus have not even heard anything announced officially.

Tate Casey's claim to fame in Knoxville is dating a, well I'll get banned never mind, that goes to school here

He's also a TE not a WR

It's been on ESPN's website that Caldwell will not play.

CI is a TE also. He still had a monster game against Troy. Ok, you guys can stop laughing now. really. it's enough.

My three keys:

1. Limit turnovers. Two or less.

2. Run the ball effectively. I don't think we have to run for 200 yds, but maybe somewhere around 100. We need to run it well in 3rd and short/goaline situations and just enough in order for us to use play action. This will help to take pressure away from Ainge b/c I think he will throw for around 300 yds. UF is going to try and take away the run first and Cut will take what the D gives us.

3. The biggest key IMO is to make Florida throw/exchange the ball. Like make them pitch the ball on option plays, make them use reverses or make Tebow throw to beat us. The more times they use higher percentage turnover plays then the better. Put them in situations where they are having to do stuff with the ball that they didn't have to against WKU and Troy.

Injury List: Florida suffered a couple of key injuries, but Meyer wasn't ready to comment on the extent of them during the teleconference. Caldwell has a sprained medial-collateral knee ligament, and kick returner Brandon James has an ankle injury.

Wide receiver Jarred Fayson was shaken up on a hard hit late in the third quarter, but Meyer said he is OK.

Caldwell is the Gators' most experienced receiver, and also gives them another throwing threat. He lined up at quarterback in the shotgun formation and scored on an 18-yard run against Troy.

James set up two Florida touchdowns with long returns. He had a punt return for a touchdown called back by a penalty last season at UT.

Rivalry Week: Meyer isn't one of those coaches who says, "We approach every game the same." He has emphasized "rivalry games" ever since he arrived at Florida in 2005, and it has paid off.

The Gators haven't lost to Georgia, UT or Florida State - their three biggest rivals - since Meyer succeeded Ron Zook as head coach. That success started with a victory over UT two years ago.

"The Swamp was nice and loud (in his first two games)," Meyer said. "But it was a whole different level (against UT). I will never forget my first (SEC) experience at home."

There's a different atmosphere before a rivalry game as well, Meyer pointed out.

"Everything has to be different when you walk into the facility on Monday," he said. "It's a whole different level. But what you don't want to do is play the game on Tuesday or Wednesday."

I hope there is a special air in the war room on the hill. Coaches and players in the mindset that this is "Florida-week." Go Vols! We gotta believe...I hope Caldwell and James play...so we can know that played there best...win or lose. Anyone who everplayed sports, after a big win, you don't want to hear how tainted and discounted your win was.

I think we will win using a ground game and the short pass you can see this coming at Cal. it was the short pass and USM the run with both going and the untested Fla D we should score enough to win the game. I hope our D can limit Fla. O make them go the full field with no big plays, whin they go option nail Tebo every time ball or not he has not starten and played in such a game playing all the way, this will be the difference in this game. I think Cut will have some things that Fla has not seen I would hope he brings out a faster version of the no huddle.

good points, and with a shootout or close score for that matter field postion and MOmentum will play a key factor. For the first time this season, I would like to see us come out swinging and not having to match the other team's score. You are right though, defense for 4 fast moving quarters.
Every chance they can, hit Tebow deadly hard, even if he gets 7-8 yards....Come after him before he gets to the gaps/seams.:good!:

Keys to a Tennessee win OUT SCORE Florida!

But seriously...

We need to establish the run early hopefully we can get foster and Coker carries at the right time cause it seems we got foster the ball a few times last game that would be potential touchdowns or big gainers for Coker and his speed and i assume throw the screen to foster he is a tough yards back... i would like to see hardesty and creer to they both are studs

If we establish the run it will open up our recievers, we know they can all catch lets see some more yards after the catch... we need to look down field more at least try and hit a few home runs maybe on firstr down cause we are pounding it up the middle religously on first right now

D needs to step it up our focus this week should be hit like Rico... We need to play tighter on recievers quit giving up 10 yard passes so easily... we def need some momentum hits quite that crowd and play with a lil more swagger
